...Men of the world unite ? this is TopGear. The ultimate car show. Forget the charade that is Fifth Gear over on Channel 5. BBC Two?s beloved TopGear is the pinnacle of motoring shows.
Made by the Beeb and hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond, this hourly show has been made for years now ? orginally it was more of a basic motoring review show with the likes of Clarkson and Tiff Needell, but it was completely revamped in 2002 and brought in May and Hammond to not only review brand new cars ? often sporty ones or ridiculous super cars ? but to task part in tasks to produce entertainment.
The show isn?t religiously broken down into section but there are various parts of the show which occur each week. There?s always a ?Star in a Reasonably Priced Car? who will try a lap around the TopGear track in a Chevrolet...

Review of TopGear
Advantages: Very fun to watch, great chemistry, informative Disadvantages: None
...TopGear is a multi award winning TV show about cars that is broadcast on BBC 2 while repeats are shown on Dave. It started in 1977 as a conventional motoring show but, since it's relaunch in 2002, a lot of comedy and quirkiness has been injected into the show. It is currently on its 12th series.
The show is presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May and The Stig, who drives all the featured cars around the TopGear track to see which posts the fastest time.
Jeremy Clarkson is synonymous with this show, having been one of the reasons the old TopGear peaked in the '90's. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled in 2001 but brought back after Clarkson and producer Andy Wilman pitched a new format to the BBC executives. During the first series Clarkson was joined by Richard Hammond and Jason Dawe, who was replaced by James May...

Review of TopGear
Advantages: Cars, challenges and comedy Disadvantages: Some people are easily offended by Clarkson
...~~~TopGear~~~
I have only really watched TopGear over the last 7 or 8 years. Mainly because my fella is a huge fan but I can honestly admit I now look forward to the opening credits on a Sunday night.
For those of you that have not had the pleasure of watching it you can find it on BBC 2 on a Sunday evening at 8pm (sometimes 9pm). As you can probably guess its show a motor vehicles (more prominently cars).
The shows last for 1 hour and repeats can also be found on 'Dave' (cable channel) throughout the week.
Im suprised to say that the show actually dates back to 1977 which is something I was not aware of!
~The presenters:
The current presenters include ...
Jeremy Clarkson is probably the most famous of the presenters notably known for his opinionated and tongue in cheek comments which are often criticised by the media. However...

Review of TopGear
Advantages: great entertainment Disadvantages: none
...**BRIEF HISTORY**
Originally televised in 1977 and still running to date, this programs format is to review motor vehicles in a objective way.
The early series was simply that?telling the public the truth about the newest models at the time.
The original TopGear started as a day time show, with thirty minutes of airtime in the main show called 'Pebble Mill'.
Its aim was simply to review the cars of the time, giving the general public the knowledge of a vehicle before purchasing.

Review of TopGear
...As a fan of cars on a purely superficial basis and having no interest in how cars work then old school TopGear with Quentin Wilson and Noel Edmonds, were of absolutely no interest to me, having been full of technical detail and reviews of hatchbacks and family saloons.
However the newer episodes of the programme presented by Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are a lot more to the taste of someone with a little less interest in buying a Volvo. The three presenters have turned TopGear into more of an entertainment show, with a mixture of reviews of Fast cars and challenges for the presenters to compete in, usually with disasterous results. These challenges have included Amphibious Vehicles in which the three crossed the channel in a Toyota Pickup Truck, Crossing Botswana in cars bought for less than £1000 and building...

Review of TopGear
Advantages: Great show, good format, lots of different cars each week. Disadvantages: Sometimes they go too far with their stunts.
...TopGear is a motoring show which is hosted by Richard Hammond, James Mays & Jeremy Clarkson and shown on BBC2 at 9PM on Sundays.
The programme has been going for a number of years and as far back as I can remember Jeremy Clarkson has always been one of the presenters and he brings a certain amount of rudeness and cockiness to the show without being too over the top.
There are a number of different features to the show such as the cool wall where the three presenters will have a photograph of a car (could be new or old) and then argue about whether the car is cool or not and where it deserves to go on the cool wall.
Each show has an interview with a 'celebrity' and then sees them drive around the reasonably priced car (a different car each series I believe) and then they are compared against the other people who have driven...

...***this review first appeared on dooyoo.co.uk***
op Gear is by far my favourite TV programme. Its hosted by James May (otherwise: Captain Slow), Richard Hammond (otherwise: Hamster) and Jeremy Clarkson. The thing I love about the show is that there is stuff on it that you just wouldn't see anywhere else. Like paying football with Toyota Aygos and Volkswagens, or Ice Hockey in cars, or even a rocket powered Mini going over a ski jump. Note: What I am describing here is the newer version of TopGear, the orignal versions weren't quite as good.
TopGear is proven to have about 5% of the world watching it (350 million). No wonder, the show is so popular because of its presentation, stunts and also supercar reviews. Not to mention the huge races that happen every now and then. e.g, germany to england etc.
Overall, I strongly...

Review of TopGear
Advantages: Talks about cars 'n' stuff in a way that I, a girl, can understand! Disadvantages: Hidden away on BBC2 on a Sunday night!
...Well, when I saw that "TopGear" had not received a review based on its current format (i.e. Its re-birth after BBC decided that they DID need a car consumer programme after having previously axed it) I felt that one was long overdue. And to make it even more refreshing for you all, its from my point of view - that of a female!!
You'll find TopGear hidden away on BBC2 at the moment - 8pm until 9pm on a Sunday evening. Perhaps not the most ideal timeslot for all (I'll hold my hands up and say that I don't always remember to tune in - and then I'm gutted when I realised that I've missed it!). The show is now based from a hangar on an old airfield, with the runways at the programme's disposal to show us what the cars that they report on can really do!
The main presenter is once again Jeremy Clarkson - who did have the same job...

Review of TopGear
Advantages: Brainless shooter with incredible production values Disadvantages: All the originality of a ham sandwich
...As much as I enjoyed the original Gears of War, it was kind of like an interactive Steven Segal film; juvenile, exaggerated, and preposterously macho. I half expected meat-headed hero Marcus Fenix to spring out during the closing credits dressed as a Red-Indian Chieftain and belt out YMCA with the rest of his earth-saving COG crew, completing this festival of homoerotic bonhomie. This was a shame as the plot, whilst hackneyed in principal, was competent enough to sustain a more thoughtful exposition than it received.
The sci-fi tale of humanity under attack from horrific alien blah blah blah has been bludgeoned to a bloody pulp so many times over I'll spare you a full teeth-grindingly dull synopsis of this sequel, only to rather obviously mention that the subterranean Locust Horde are still up to no good; the malevolent murderous...
Advantages: Funny, cars, adventures Disadvantages: not much
...TopGear is simple the best motor programme on TV. It easily beats Quentin Wilson and Fifth Gear. With James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson along with The Stig, the test driver it forms a deadly quatro. They provide fantastic entertainment and comedy. They enjoy experimenting, for example in the recent series they saw which one would get you across London faster, a train, a boat, a car or a bike. The results were in first the bike, then the boat followed by the train and lastly James May in the car. They also go on the equivalent of Bushtucker Trials in the motoring world driving across Botswana in old bangers. Driving across jungles and making the show funny and good viewing for the viewers. Highly recommend it, BBC2, 8PM, Sunday, be there, be square....
