When it comes to cleaning I am not the most up to date on the best brands and products to use as it is only recently I have had my own house. I was having a social gathering the other week when one of the guests spilled a glass of orange juice over my cream carpet. I started to panic as I wanted the stain to come out and needed to run to the supermarket right away to find a product that would be able to get rid of this mark on my floor.
Down the cleaning aisle there was a selection of products that were for removing carpet stains but some were a bit pricey costing over a fiver which is more than I intended to pay. I then came across the 1001 Mousse which was reasonably priced and which was to attack wet spills and stains. I quickly bought this then rushed home to see how I would target this stain and hoped for some success.
1001 have apparently been going for over 50 years and after logging onto their website I have realised they have a much bigger range of carpet cleaning products than I was initially aware of. They launched in 1940 with their all purpose cleaning liquid and then launched carpet cleaning machines in the 80’s. Then from then on did car carpet cleaning products and laminate cleaners.
The packaging of the Mousse that I purchased is very eye catching in a can with a blue lid and a yellow body but this seems to be the colour scheme for their entire product range. It is a clever overall design though. It is a 300ml can and on the back there are directions of use, it states the formula works deep into the fibres to get rid of all stains quickly. With liquid stains it suggests blotting them first before using this product and for solid residue it says to scrape up the excess with a blunt knife and for dry stains to vacuum the area.
So, I looked down at my carpet, gave the can a shake and then as guided held the can 6-12 inches away from the stained area and pushed down the spray button. Once the mousse was on the carpet I then used the brush head which is on the top of the can and started brushing the stain to really get the excess juice out of the carpet the mouse has a nice floral smell like all vacuum products seem to have. I did start to notice the mousse turn an orangey colour which meant the juice must have been starting to lift. However I did find I had to apply the mousse several times before the stain really came out as best as it could. I had let it dry in slightly but it did remove it well so that it wasn’t so noticeable anymore. I went back a day later and targeted it again and now it looks really good.
If you catch your stain in time it should pretty much lift everything from the carpet but if you’re lazy like me then getting it later might leave a slight mark but still nothing too noticeable and for the money it is still a miracle.
The product is still worth the money and is definitely handy to have around the house in case of any spills where you might need to quickly brush at to clean it up. I would say this did a good job it may not be the best carpet cleaner out there but a few of my friends have known this when I mentioned 1001.
I purchased my 1001 at my local Asda and as stated for the 300ml can it cost me £2. I am sure other supermarkets will sell this as well though, it had lasted me a good while and I have used it quite a lot.
If you want more information on 1001 and their cleaning products for pets, homes etc then go to their website http://www.1001carpetcare.co.uk which has contact information, product ranges, company history and press.

We have stain resistant carpets, however I can see a stain right in front of me right now that we can't get up. The guy at the carpet place couldn't care less lol. We haven't tried any products like this however, so I'll give it a go. Brilliant review. Kirsty x
