"101 Illnesses you don't want to get"...hmm. When I bought it, I was the aspiring med student hungry for knowledge and glad of a medical book at a decent price. But "101 Illnesses you don't want to get" is certainly not limited to medical people. If you are an avid Holby fan (yes, like I am...) and always wondered what was actually wrong with the patient with Acromegaly (high level of growth hormones, actually!) or necrotizing fasciitis (Flesh eating bacteria...complete with attractive pictures!) then "101 Illnesses you don't want to get" is likely to have it. But hypochondriacs beware; some of the symptoms listed on the 6-in-the-world-suffer diseases are common and before long, you will think you have a guinea worm or malaria. I learnt that the hard way from lending my book to a friend...

"101 Illnesses you don't want to get" is more a book to dip into than one to read as a novel in bed. But for anyone with even a fleeting interest in dangerous and rare illnesses, it's a fab book to have. Worth the £8 I paid for it even if just for the amusement of being able to terrify my friends with the pictures which I should point out are...graphic. OK, VERY graphic!
