I have been wearing Mountain Horse boots for years now including the ever popular 'Cheetah' boot.
I have always ridden in a pair of long leather boots and normally the zips have either gone on them or the stitching which is quite frankly damn annoying!
When I bought another horse about 2 years ago I decided to treat myself to a new pair of long leather boots but something which is a bit more durable and hardwearing. I dont know why I never thought of Mountain Horse before! It might be because alot of their boots are quite chunky.
Anyway Mountain Horse hadnt had the Sportive High Rider out for long and I had a look and went into my local saddlers to try them to see what they were like, I was smitten. They were so comortable and fitted really well, I have slim legs and normally I get a gap at the back of the boot but not with these ...
Advantages: So much to offer Disadvantages: It's only once a month
I have been subscribing to Horse and Rider magazine for about 2 years now. It has so much to offer. Every month i can't wait for it to come through the post. The magazine costs:£3.10 a month, which when you think about it, is not really that much!
My favorite parts every month is the "Ask the experts" section and also the "Horse directory". Readers can write in with there equine and riding problems and the experts do there best to offer advise. The horse directory includes horses for sale, diary date, desperatly seeking, Notice bored and equine items for sale. I must say that i think the desperatly seeking section is a very good idea, it is for people who have sold or been parted from their horses/ponys and that would like information on them, just to know how they are getting on and stuff. It is free to advertise your horse ...

the hands (and hooves) of the insructor/school you choose..
You can whittle down the number of schools to visit through a phone call, any respectable school will enquire about the rider´s ability, age, height and weight. You must never book a lesson without being assured you are going to be ´matched´with the correct horse, in the correct lesson.
First, pay an unnanounced visit - does the place look clean (stick your nose over a stable door - if it is filthy - leave. Second, do the horses look happy, healthy (definately not skinny with their ears back and seem to hate people). Do they look as if a brush has been near them that day ? have they got access to clean, fresh water ? - all these things constitute a happy horse, a happy horse is much more likely to want to please you, and it means the owner knows how to care for the animals. It ...
