I have been listening to Key103 for as long as I can remember even right back from when it was Piccadilly radio!! The radio station is on the FM frequency and is based in Manchester but can be heard across Greater Manchester including places such as Bolton. This is the radion station I listen too when I can still get the frequency and am within the area for it.

Who is it for? Well the station is aimed at everyone really and is ideal for the younger viewers too as they don't tend to make a rude jokes or reference to it. The station probably wouldn't suit the much older listener unless they are into modern music although they do do play some classic pop tunes but not any classical or music earlier than the 70's.
Music: As mentioned the station plays a variety of music and generally throughout the day will play mainly pop and dance music but have different show times for the various different DJ'' that are employed by the station. One of particular favourites part is 'The top ten at 10' show which is when they will pick a year, normally from either the late 80's, nineties or noughties, and play 10 different songs that came out that year. Viewers have to guess and can text or phone in to guess. I remember that they actually used to give one workplace a gregs lunch if they got it right. Not an amazing prize but all in the name of fun!! Howver it is now just in the name of as there is no prize but I still love to sit and listen and start trying to guess! They also do other shows such as 'On demand' which is where the viewers phone or text in to request songs of their choice. It means that people actually get a say in what they listen to. A good way to stay a viewers favourite!
Competitions: The radio do a variety of competitions mainly for things like concert tickets and also random small prizes such as CD's etc. However they also do some major prizes such as is the main one that is running at the moment 'Mystery voices'. The concept of this show is where three hidden celebrities say the phrase 'key103' with each celebrity saying one bit. Obviously this makes it quite difficult to guess as it's literally a quick 1 second of a whole phrase that each celebritiy says but the cash prize is big! The first person to guess a voice right wins £1000, the first person to guess two voices wins £5000 and then the first person to guess all three voices wins £20000. Not bad at all! It is really frustratin listening to people say the same voices over and over when you know it's not right and I honestly don't know why you wouldn't check the website before calling as they list all the incorrect guesses! This year is different as all other times they have done it they have just increased the pot by £103 every time somebody guessed but got it wrong - If i remember one year the big prize went for something like £37000!! I am a bit biased when it comes to comps on this station as well though as my wife has won a couple of prizes on here - she first won premier night tickets to see Cirque du soleil when it came to Manchester a few years back and then only this January won Spice girl concert tickets so I just hope she keeps the winning streak up with them!!
Other stuff: The radio station do a lot of charity work too and their main one is the Manchester Kids one wher they will do various fundraising things throughout the year to donate and they do a lot of stuff too wher they send people out on the streets of Manchester where listeners can take part in stuff. They have various other bits that come along during the days too including things like 'beat the gag' which is where the DJ will give the viewers two things or names and the viewers have to try and come up with a joke that connect them two things - highly amusing and some of the stuff is really good - others though is not!!
The DJ's: They have a variety of DJ's on the show and these are listed below with the show that they do.
Toolan in the morning - Morning show from 6am- with Mike Toolan and Chelsea.
Jason King - does the top ten at 10 - from 10am-1pm on Monday to Friday and then also does Sunday show from 9am - 1pm
Justin Moorhouse - quite a well known comedian who also does gigs at the Comedy store - he does the show from 1pm -4pm.
Darren Proctor - Does the drive home show between 4pm - 7pm. It's mainly all the latest stuff until 5pm when it's the viewers choice also any latest news from the day on this show too. He also does the saturday show from 10am - 2pm
Rich and Luce - these do the show on Mondays through until thursday and do the 7pm - 10pm slot. Their show includes the '7@7' which is the top seven songs from the day. and also the in demand where viwers choose the songs.
Macdonald and Maguire's late night line up - Monday to thursday from 10pm - 1am and then also on Sunday from 10pm - 1am. They do a variety of different things including 'Spooky true stories' and the 'Richard and Judy years' where they play 3 songs from a special year from this TV couple
During 1am - 2am Monday through until Friday, the station play whats called the 'Peaceful hour' when they just play a host of different chill out songs back to back. There is no presenter for this show as it is pre chosen and just set to play.
Fell good Friday Night with Luce - this show is on every Friday with Luce who does the Rich and Luce show. It is on air from 7pm - 10pm every Friday and is mainly all the latest dance songs for going out to.
Dave Ellis - He does the Saturday and Sunday morning show from 2am - 6am. A mix of classic and up to date songs to listen to whilst coming in from those late nights out partying!
David Johnson - does the pre top 40 UK show from 1pm - 4pm on Sundays. Music is latest chart songs
Lucio - Hit 40 UK show which runs from 4-pm - 7pm on Sundays. All songs as they have made it into their position in the current charts played in order from 40 - 1.
Michelle Mullane - does the show from 7pm - 10pm on Sundays and does a mix of music, comedy line ups and old school music.
Richard Clarke - does the key control show where again viwers can choose the songs but hours that he does change frequently - the last time I checked he was doing the Saturday morning after Dave Ellis had finished but not entirely sure if he's still doing it at this time now!
Overall the Key103 show is brilliant with lots going on, interesting presenters and lots of good music. I highly recommend this staion to anyone who lives in the greater Manchester area and can tune into it.
Advantages: Good music, good presenters, excellent community spirit Disadvantages: Too many adverts
...The name? Piccadilly Key 103 FM (or Key 103 - as the young at heart like to call it!), owned by EMAP and based in Castlequay just outside Manchester City Centre it is here where the legend begins.
Many years ago a station called Piccadilly 1152 was left to roam Manchester's airwaves, it was based in Manchester's Piccadilly Plaza Hotel and remained here till the IRA bomb blast ruined the City Centre in the Summer of 1996. The station mainly played ... ...and was name Piccadilly Key 103 FM. It was to be 1152's sister station and was to be run by the similar people in the same building. The new station was aimed more at the younger listeners, around the thirteen to thirty age bracket. The station played pop, dance and rock songs from the UK singles charts. It too was a commercial station and regularly advertised it's sister station. The presenters on this station were much more fun, they were lively ...

...almost always listening to Key 103. It's a Manchester-based radio station aimed at people around 13 plus, I'd say.
Key 103 has a mix of different songs. They play the latest hits, older songs and other songs that aren't as mainstream, unlike a lot of other radio stations. You get a wide variety so there's something for everyone.
I don't usually listen at weekends, but here are the list of DJ's on weekdays:
6am-10am - JK and Joel
10am-1pm - Mike ... ...the latest is the Key 103 Weekender in Wales. All the DJ's will be there for the weekend and you stay in that hotel (I'm assuming you stay in a hotel, could be camping or something) and there's meant to be clubbing, comedy shows, etc, but I've never been to any of them, so I can't speak too much on that! I'd imagine they're quite fun though.
Another thing I like is that all the DJ's seem to be friends with each other. They often DJ with each other ...

Key 103 is one of the most popular stations in Manchester -- and for a good reason. The station plays the latest music, not just that but old classics and songs which aren't as popular. There's a variety for everyone. They have regular news updates every hour. This includes the latest headlines, which also includes celebrity news. This is where you can e-mail the DJs for free. I have had a few messages read out on air before.

Advantages: Good range of music, entertaining DJs in touch with the community Disadvantages: Errrr, none!
Key 103 has a great range of amusing and entertaining DJs who are genuinely in touch with the local people. They play the latest music, and older classics too, which means that there's a fantastic range of music. Every Sunday - Thursday, 10pm - 2am, the irreverant and opinionated James Stannage hosts a talk show which takes calls from local people on just about any conceivable subject. The discussion range from deep, philosophical, and intelligent ...

listen much on sundays, but Hallam do now take the Smash Hits Chart instead of Hit40UK (not surprising, Hallam FM is owned by EMAP, who make the Smash Hits Chart)
This is then followed at 7 by Kerrang, presented by Lucio, but this show gets networked across the North of England on EMAP's Big City Network, which includes Metro Radio in Newcastle, TFM in Stockton, Viking and Aire in Yorkshire and Key103 in Manchester.
Altogther, Hallam FM is back to its best, and is absolutely massive in Sheffield - They've sponsored the Park Square Roundabout, you can now sit in the Hallam FM Kop's at Sheffield United and Wednesday, or why not visit the Hallam FM Arena - yes - theyve even sponsored the Sheffield Arena!
