Advantages: great care, state of the art equipment, registered charity Disadvantages: none
...I am 36, 13 weeks pregnant with my first child and found out about the fetal medicine centre from the babycentre website. We rang to get more information and they seemed very professional. The scan cost £150 which we though was quite reasonable so we decided to book it.
We found the centre on HarleyStreet quite easily - about a 10 minute walk from the Baker Street tube station. The waiting room was bright, airy and well decorated, with leather sofas and a free tea and coffee machine. The receptionist was polite and friendly. I had a blood test and then a few minutes waited for the scan.
The doctor who carried out the scan was brilliant and the scan equipment was state of the art. He checked numerous different things - heart, blood flow to the placenta, nasal bone, nuchal flow etc etc, taking loads of different measurements and all...

Advantages: Better than 20:20 vision the next day Disadvantages: For me, none whatsoever
...on the trees behind our garden. I have to admit I cried - so much more was out of that window than I had ever realised. That day I went in to London on my own for a check up and had better than 20:20 vision.

I had a couple of aftercare appointments, after a week and a month.
It made a huge difference to my travelling experience, and if you're considering it I would heartily recommend that you investigate whether it is suitable for you. I know the chances are that I will still need reading glasses in my 40s or 50s, but hey, so do most...

Despite the success of his work with orthodox medicine he felt dissatisfied with the way doctors were expected to concentrate on diseases and ignore the people who were suffering them. He was inspired by his work with homeopathy but wanted to find remedies that would be purer and less reliant on the products of disease. So in 1930 he gave up his lucrative HarleyStreet practice and left London, determined to devote...
