have been a witness to lot of hollywood movies and have been a witness to a lot of superb perfomances by the great actors of hollywood. I rather pick fiev actors as I think that selecting just ten will dilute the list.So it is going to be a tough job to pick the five best english actors. But what has to be done will be done. So please give a standing ovation to the gods of acting!
1) Al Pacino - As someone said before in a review, ’’ There are 2 kinds of people. One who like Al pacino and the others who like De Niro. But I belong to the third kind, the one who is too confused by the great perfomances to find who is the better one. He is among the most versatile actors ever . He broke onto the big screen with his sensational perfomance in the epic movie ’’ The Godfather’’ as Michael Corleone. You still get posters of him as Michael Corleone at Broadway !
Best Perfomances - Godfather , The Insider , Devils Advocate
2 Robert De Niro - My guess is that he is the most versatile actors ever in the history of acting! He has done every role possible.The psycho, obbessed fan, mafia don, army man, boxing champ, cabbie and what not. He has done comedy, drama, thriller and every other kind of movie possible except erotic ( HA !). An actor to be studied and by aspiring actors and students of cinema.
Best Perfomance - Taxi Driver , Raging bull , The Fan , Analyse this.
3) Tom Hanks - He is among the finest actors living. He stared out in low budget comedy movies like ’’Big’’ and see where he has reached now. Working with the likes of Steven Spielberg in a epic mini-series. He is the probably the only actor to win 2 oscars in a row for ’’Philadelphia’’ and ’’Forrest Gump’’. He should have won a one for ’’CastAway’’ too. He is an actor par excellence ! His dedication is legendary. Bill Clinton once said that Tom Hanks would be the actor who could Portray him the best !

4) Jim Carrey - The most under-rated actor in the history of Cinema. Just because he is a comedian, he is not considered a good actor. I was hysteric when he was not even given a oscar nomination for his sensational perfomance in ’’Man on the Moon’’. He is the man who gave you the laughs in Mask. The most Hilarious Actor ever and I am sure many will agree with me.
Memorable Perfomances - The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, The Truman Show , Man on the Moon.
5) Arnold Swchaznegger - Okay, He may not be a great actor but i watch movies to enjoy and his movies sure give me enjoyment. The muscle man is the box office king of all time. Tell me any movie of his which was a dud. Action that is. His comedy movies are crappy but come to action and he is GOD ! Stallone and Van Damme can take a walk. His role of T-180 in Terminator- 2 is legendary.
Memorable Perfomances - Terminator 2 , Predator , End of days and Conan the Barbarian.
