Get swept away with 10 little rubber ducks! (Book with sound chip) Chuckedy-chuckedy-chuck goes the rubber duck machine. Out pop little yellow rubber ducks one after the other...A brand-new batch of rubber ducks is loaded on to a ship and sent off to be delivered to children everywhere. But when a storm strikes 10 little ducks are tossed into the sea and swept away in 10 different directions - with some wonderfully unexpected adventures along the way. Come ride the waves as legendary children's book author and illustrator Eric Carle explores numbers directions opposites geography animals and more in an extraordinary interactive picture book beautifully illustrated with his unique collage-style art. And for a final surprise the last page contains a duck with a squeaking sound chip for a special treat at the end of the story!
Advantages: Great illustrations, develops children's imaginations. Disadvantages: None
...'Little Cloud' is one of the less well known EricCarle books in comparison to the 'The very hungry caterpillar' and 'The bad-tempered ladybird'. It is nonetheless, definitely worth a mention as it is a charming book, well loved by the children I have read it to.
~ The Story ~
It's about a little cloud who drifts along in the sky behind all of the other larger clouds which eventually move out of it's sight.
The little cloud who now feels like a giant cloud as it isn't being 'dwarfed' by all of the larger ones, drifts along and changes itself in to many things: a sheep, an aeroplane, a shark, a rabbit etc.
On each change of shape a reason is given for the little cloud changing in to it's chosen object, e.g. it loved to watch rabbits dash across the meadow & it liked the way trees never moved and stayed in one place...

The style
**********************************************************************
Very simple style with a lot of repetitive text so that children are able to join in with the 'chant' of:
"The spider didn't answer. She was very busy spinning her web.
Young children will also love joining in with the animal sounds which are encouraged in this book, be prepared for lots of noise if doing this with a large group.

Illustrations

An award winning illustrator, EricCarle certainly doesn't disappoint with the illustrations in this book, they are superb!
Each double page has a drawing of the animal talking to the spider, with a small fly flying around. The adjacent page has a picture of the fence...

<<<Who is EricCarle>>>
I will be surprised to learn of any parents, carers or even anyone who has at one time been a child over the last 30 years who aren't familiar with EricCarle, if not by name than by the books he has been responsible for.
Carle is the creator of classic children's picture books...
