Advantages: Good for small jobs. Disadvantages: Has limited use.
.... The pump is designed to be used at 3000 revolutions per minute, and will handle liquids and semi solids. The inlet and outlets are both half inch bore, and are fitted with quick release couplings.
If you have a garden pond that needs emptying from time to time, of you are digging footings that tend to fill with water, then this may be just the job. You will find many more uses for these pumps once you have one, and you will find they get borrowed a lot. I have used mine for pumping out a cellar, emptying cisterns, as well as flooded boats.
As for the noise, well, they are as noisy as the electric drill that drives them. They are self priming, and will lift up to about 3 metres. These are also Made in Britain.
As long as you accept their use is limited, you will be more than happy with them. They are on sale at a lot of places nowadays...

Advantages: Very good idea, very green. Disadvantages: Not a lot.
...You are reading about a submersible pump by Hozelock, designed to fit into your water butt, and provide a supply of water suitable for watering your garden. Simple idea, and a good one too. It will feed water with enough pressure to provide a decent spray. A very good idea in these days of hose pipe bans.
I did a review on a drill operated pump, not a bad idea I thought, a cheap option, especially if you only have a limited amount to shift, although someone suggested that a drill operated pump is a bit of a waste, why not get a real pump? Good thinking, good point. I have baled out strip footings with a bucket before now, and must say any sort of pump is an improvement. A proper submersible one is ideal.
I must admit I was thinking of adapting my drill operated gizmo to fit my water butt, but having used one of these, I know which...

...I have owned an Oase (pronounced oh-ah-sir) aquamax 10,000 for 3yrs, and it has been in use everyday, for twenty-four hours a day, without any kind of malfunction. Which is exactly what I require from a pump that is working a gravity fed filter for a pond full of koi carp.
This pump is capable of pumping 1980 gallons per hour, although you will lose some of this through friction in the pipes and if you are pumping to a higher point than the pump itself, (this is called head and all pumps suffer from it). It can pass small solids up to 10mm without jamming, which stops snails and other small debris clogging it up.
Although not the cheapest (available mail order for approx. £150:00 when I acquired mine) in terms of reliability it has certainly justified it’s price, I have used cheaper pumps on my ponds only to have them fail...
