I purchased this 17" Digimate LCD monitor for my pc from Asda for £146.97 as a replacement for my old conventional monitor as I need to save some space.
I brought this display system home and was pleasantly surprised at the weight and the fact that I could take it out of the box on my own, as I have experience of other ones that are so tightly crammed with the packaging they have needed two people to remove them from the box. One to hold the box and one to hold the monitor.
It was fully assembled, I didn't have to add the stand as you have to with some other models. It is a little wobbly on it's stand though and not as sturdy as some more expensive types. This seems a little worrying as these items are easily damaged, so a slight knock and it might be broken completely.
I couldn't just wire it up and add it on as there were a few extra cables with this one than there usually are with these types of display monitor.
There are four cables in total that run form this monitor and one even has to go into an adaptor before joining the main power supply! So although I have saved on extra space, I am still sat in Spaghetti Junction, though I have some more room for my empty beer cans.
Set up instructions are fairly simple in the user guide. The graphics are not too clear on the literature and it is hard to see the difference between cables and connections from the pictures and diagrams. But it doesn't take too long to work it out and you don't have to be a genius.
Initially you are insctructed to set the display to 1280 x 1024 pixels, I found that a little too small for my eyesight and my eyesight is very good.
1280 x 960 pixels is ok in quality, yet still a little small. Any lower settings and you don't get the quality at all. In fact the display appears like a really bad print out, no good at all. Surely this monitor should work at all settings, all the other ones I have seen could be adjusted for every setting, this one cannot.
The appearance of this monitor is ok, it is a slimline model and you can choose if you have black & silver, or silver and black or black and black etc, though they so spell 'silver' a 'SLIVER; on the box descriptions. The 17" screen is only surrounded by a slim line, so you don't have a huge surround.
The sound quality is absolutely crap and I won't dare to listen to any music using these speakers. The Windows tune is ok though, I hope that it gets to number one before Christmas and then I will be well away.
The monitor control buttons are not too simple to navigate either. Not user friendly at all.
I would say that this monitor would be a good buy for anyone prepared to add more speakers for good sound. Also I would say that you need extremely good eyesight, I certainly wouldn't buy one of these for my mother.
Advantages: space saving, good price and quality Disadvantages: non
We brought this monitor as an optional extra when we brought the new P.C, it cost us an extra £30.00 on top of the standard monitor price, so worked out about £130.00.
We have had it for several months now and had not even the slightest problem, nice looking item, we had ours in silver in black layout, very light weight, but has a surprisingly sturdy solid base, with angle adjustment.
Viewing - the screen.
Very sharp picture, good clear colour, ... ...in form as yet, and I spend hours in front of it every day.
We all play games on the P.C and the monitor, shows them just as clear as anytime, also DVD pictures are crystal clear.
Front of the screen has all the light touch controls, for picture expansion and retraction, brightness, colour and contrast adjuster and screen power off/on button.
The monitor comes complete with 2 power leads (One three pin uk type and one 2 pin European style); PSU, ...

Advantages: Good monitors if/when they work Disadvantages: Useless customer service / warranty
...weeks ago) bought a Digimate 17" monitor - two reasons, one was price and second was 3 years onsite warranty (supposedly)
Iti worked ok for a while. Great screen and good audio. Then it stopped working. I checked it out and it was actually the DC socket at fault in the back of the monitor. So I called Digimate as their warranty says.
Firstly i was asked to post back the power supply which is strange since I did say on the phone that it was the ... ...their website to which I have never had a response after over 24 hours. Just a quick auto email that says thatnks for your enquiry. And that is meant to be their support team.
Anyway I rang again and this time they said they would send a courier to pick up my monitor and check it out but they cant pick it up for 2 weeks. So I queried the so called onsite warranty only to be fobbed off with the fact that it covers only parts.
So a bit pis**d off ...

Advantages: Cheap, but still an excellent quality monitor, 12 ms response time Disadvantages: Built in speakers, monitor wobbles with the stand
I've had this monitor for quite some time now I bought it from aria.co.uk for about £130, I've used dell monitors in the past and there is no difference in quality at all, colours and picture quality are excellent. I use my pc to play games watch TV and DVD's and it's just perfect although a bit of brightness tweaking may make it look that little bit better when watching TV or DVDs. With a 12ms response time there is no ghosting on games (this is ... ...the frame rate some of the faster games require). The contrast ratio is 500-1 not bad at all for a monitor of this price it also supports resolutions up to 1280x1024, and is wall mountable.
It also includes the cable to connect the speakers to your pc but I wouldn't bother there awful I assume there designed for office use only. Another unlike able point is that of the odd designed it tends to let the monitor wobble a bit, for example if you have ...

Advantages: Lightweight, good viewing angle adjustment Disadvantages: Speakers not best quality, but workable
...home use. Using a 17" TFT at work, I found the resolution ont hat more than adequate. Research on prices on the web showed that this Digimate monitor was the most reasonable, with the right features. I was particularly attracted by the angle adjustment, and the built-in speakers.
Ordering was extremly simple - I used a company called aria - and the cost was £123 inc VAT. I had the screen delivered to my work address, which was no problem for their ... ...packaged. Configuration onto my system was easy - very much a simple plug and play, as you would expect these days. The process was simple for all levels of user - from basic to expert.
Setting the monitor up ont he desk - again very easy, with the angle adjustment. Resolution is very good - I use my PC for internet, home "office" functions but not games (so I cannot speak for that aspect). Refresh rate is good - flicker-free screen, crisp images ...

Advantages: Space Saving, Quality Disadvantages: Menu System (Sound)
I bought this screen from Aria for £140.00 about 6 months ago. I bought it for my desktop PC, switching from my old big, bulky screen to this new flat screen. I was trying to find a screen with a reasonable refresh rate, and I found this by accident and by coincidence, it was on offer. I bought it and installed it. There is an auto setup which is very handy. I can only find one problem, and this is the menu system. On most screens, the sound controls ... ...you have to go through many menus to get to the sound option. This gets annoying when the sound needs to be constantly changed. The quality and clarity of the screen is brilliant for the price. I was lucky and I didn't have any 'dead pixels'. When playing on Doom 3, I found that it was just able to cope with the constantly changing pictures. Although with normal games, it would do fine. The screen has a good solid base for it to stand on. Or alternatively, ...
