1st quote seems like a very small company which is probably why it took a while for someone to get to the phone (they may only have a few advisors) but their quote was excellent and I am happy going into a company like them, who are not competing with all the bigger companies and offering me high prices for their services.
They also do other types of insurance, home, van etc and I really liked it that ... more
I have always had so much trouble with car insurance; I haven't got any 'no claims bonus' because every time it gets near to me having nearly a year worth something always happens!! I'm also young so car insurance is not the cheapest thing in the world for me. So, when my car broke for good (ford fiesta) I was relieved, as it was costing me so much money. But then, I live a few miles from all of my friends, and I was becoming so reliant on them all that on Wednesday one of my male friends gave me a Ford Ka and said I could have it. I was pleased at first, then I realised I needed to insure it and started thinking maybe I should give it back.
I looked onto money supermarket for insurance quotes and I was pleasantly supposed at how cheap they were on the KA that I was given, and me being a year older than the last tie I insured a car, the quotes were coming up as less than half of what they were on my Fiesta. 1st quote were not the cheapest, they were quoted as 4th cheapest, but I found that when I clicked onto the cheapest policy I had to enter in all my details again and then it was quoting me a different and more expensive price. 1st quote also had a really low deposit amount making it more appealing as its Christmas next week and the initial payment would have meant that a few people would be getting what they asked for!
1st quote was also connected perfectly to the money supermarket network meaning that I didn't have to re enter my details once I clicked on their offer; they were all transferred from the Money Supermarket. This made the whole process very easy to go through, I only had to enter my card details and check a few boxes to say whether I wanted any additional options on my policy, then I clicked 'ok' and my quote was processed and I was insured!
The first problem I hit was usually as soon as I hit an 'ok' button, an email goes straight into my inbox, confirming and outlining, etc. No email. So I then had to go onto their website to see if I could somehow log in….second problem, their website is rubbish. I think they may be a new company, or new to the internet because all the sections on their website were saying 'to be updated' or just quoted their helpline number. However, the website was plain and simple and I think when they finally have everything up and running it will be easier to manoeuvre around and will be a good website.
Phoning the helpline was no problem for me as I sometimes prefer to talk to an 'actual' person anyway and they have a local number which makes the whole process a lot more attractive. I was waiting for my call to be answered for a couple of minutes, but when a lady did finally answer she was chirpy and could answer all my questions, she seemed unsure to whether I would receive an email or not but assured me that I would receive something in the post in the next 2 or 3 working days. I have been left satisfied and assured by the whole experience.

They also do other types of insurance, home, van etc and I really liked it that when I phoned them, the advisor didn't try to add things onto my policy or ask me if my home insurance needed renewing!
The extras which you can add to your policy are good deals too, for instance breakdown cover is £1 a month and every add on is at around that price. So even though I opted out, I think it was the first time I had a good read through all of their add on's!
1ST quote also offers to refund the difference or give you your money back I you can find a cheaper quote within 24 hours of purchasing your policy and they offer 35% discount to pass plus holders.
I think that this company will definitely get bigger and is definitely a good choice for new and young drivers, I am over all pleased and since I am new to this company I will keep you all updated on my progress with them if it changes. I don't think they are particularly wonderful nor have anything different or spectacular to offer. But a quick and easy, basic application and very low price, plus helpful customer service, makes the process effortless and I am now happy, and insured!!
Advantages: Very Competive Quote Disadvantages: Lack of Response
...buildings and contents cover from 1st Quote, over the internet, and it was very competitive, therefore I decided to take the cover. Although one week after selecting the cover and paying a deposit I have still not received my policy documents. In this week I have rung them twice and emailed them, I've asked for a cover note to be faxed which I have not yet received. The email has not been responeded to! The phone calls resulted in nothing so far ... ...policy is in the post. What I have received is credit agreement, but no policy agreement. I will add updates about this situation as it progresses.
I have now received a fax copy of the policy and have been told the hard copy will follow by registered post. This was after been called by the accounts department requesting direct debit details!
Finaly my insurance documents arrived, two copies within 3 days, arranging the direct debit was carried ...

Advantages: Fairly competitive, monthly payments to suit many Disadvantages: Non existent customer care, ignorant staff, management
No beating about the bush here. This company is possibly one of the worst insurance companies going. You may think this unfair, but I have had the dubious pleasure of working for them.
The company has just one aim - to make money. Customer service and satisfaction do not come into it at all. They want your money, and will tell you what you want to hear to make you part with it.
OK, their quotes may be cheaper than a lot of others and this is fine, ... ...I left, 5 people working in the claims department. 5 people to service a client base of several thousand. Is it any wonder you wait for months to get repairs authorised and claims settled?
The quotes staff are little better, in the motor department there are around forty staff members all trying to reach target figures, and be the best selling salesman for the month. To achieve this aim, they will assure you your policy has breakdown cover, when ...

Advantages: They're good at taking money from you Disadvantages: They demand money that they're not entitled to
This is the worst insurance I have ever dealt with. I cancelled my policy with them over a year ago and had no contact from them at all until recently. They claimed that despite me cancelling my policy they insured me an extra month and wanted £205 for that service. I said that I didn't want that extra month insurance. They said that they would waive the month if I could prove to them that I was insured with another company for that period as it's ... ...Despite it being none of their business if I'm insured or not they insisted that i had to prove this to them. When using that as a lever to try and get some more money out of me failed they simply passed their demand on to a credit agency for recovery.
In my opinion they were simply chasing old accounts to try and get a bit more money when the credit crunch is hitting them. They had lied to me, denied receiving cancellation letter and in my opinion ...

...Work for a company called 1st Quoteline
now this is a differant company from 1st quote.
like our company they are brokers not a direct insurance company We get calls on a daily basis from clients who think they have insured their car/house ect with us (because clients get the names confused)only to find out they have not and now they are even more confused on who they paid their money to.
These clients 99% of the time are wanting to know where ... ...of their insurance yet.
All i want to say is be very carefull you have the correct company and you know who your insured with because 1st Quote dont seem to rush documents out to you
If you need your cover note asap i would insure else where ...

Advantages: Quick, cheap, easy to use, helpful customer service, excellent cover Disadvantages: Can't think of any
" companies like Churchill, Halifax, Direct Line etc. and most were quite a bit cheaper than Barclays, with the exception of Direct Line who were more expensive but I have found them to be expensive in every type of insurance I have had a quote for so that was no surprise.
Then I came across an ad for 1stQuote card and home insurance (http://www.1stquote.co.uk) and thought I'd give it a try. The web site loaded very quickly and even speaks to you (which is novel). The site is extremely easy to use and the quotation process does not ask loads of stupid useless questions. In fact, I didn't think it had asked enough questions but when I got to the policy premium page I sat up and took notice. It was just under £200.00 LESS than Barclays and about £100.00 LESS than the next nearest!! Ok I thought, the price is good but what about the cover ...
