1st to Die (Women's Murder Club) - James Patterson

1st to Die (Women's Murder Club) - James Patterson

James Patterson inaugurates a new crime series with the impressively complex First to Die: ... more

the Women's Murder Club, a group of San Francisco
professionals--a homicide cop, an assistant
district attorney, a pathologist and a
reporter--share their information and thinking on
cases. Someone is killing honeymoon couples on
their first night together and nothing that we
know about the killer is, we realise, entirely
reliable: the connections between the victims are
tenuous and the killer's method varies
significantly. Intelligent, sensitive, tough cop
Lindsay Boxer has problems of her own--a
potentially fatal blood condition and a suspicion
that she is falling for the intelligent divorced
spin-doctor forced on her as partner by a
publicity-conscious city government. The
conversations she has with her friends are partly
a matter of looking again at the results of
legwork--sometimes explaining something to people
who do not share your automatic assumptions makes
you look at it again--and partly a matter of
sharing expertise; rapidly they realise that they
are up against someone for whom murder is a sexual
game. Patterson has always had an eye for the
psychology of killers--here he adds empathy for
those to whom caring about victims is a way of
life. --Roz Kaveney

His work includes the likes of Along Came a Spider, Kiss the Girls, Jack and Gill, Cat and Mouse and Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas to name but a few. Who said Marrage is a good thing!!

Advantages: Exciting and Easy to Read
Disadvantages: A little predictable

This is the second James Patterson that I have read and reviewed. The first book was actually the third in this series and I didn't really enjoy the third one. Everyone advised me not to give up with James Patterson and so I thought I would try another one. Firstly let me say that I did enjoy most of this book. There were certain aspects that I didn't enjoy but I will discuss these in my review. So here we go. The story is about the solving of a ...
...there is a crime, a cop and lawyer and a little love. In this particular story a serial murderer is on the loose killing newly wedded couples in the most horrific manner. The groom's in these killings are disposed of in a quick manner while the brides are horrificauuly killed and violated in a sexual manner. Lindsay Boxer is the the murder detective in charge of finding the culprit. A young couple just married, have everything to live for are killed ...

Honeymooners Beware

Advantages: Chilling crime thriller at its best
Disadvantages: You'll keep looking over your shoulder afterwards

This is a tale of a serial killer that try's to come up with the worse possible murders he can think of. He decides that newlyweds are going to be his target and arranges to commit the murders on their wedding night. He carries out his macabre plot with chilling ease and the police seem unable to stop him. Homicide inspector Lindsay Boxer is determined to crack the case. She goes against regulations by enlisting the help of her friends. Cindy, a ...
...their combined expertise they begin to piece together a profile of the killer and search for links between the victims and crime scenes. Not an easy task as the crime scenes are wide ranging involving other police forces who want the glory of solving the crimes for themselves. The plot has many twists to the tale and keeps you guessing right to the end. I don't want to give too much away because it's definitely a book you should read without knowing ...

First To Die?

Advantages: A new main character to get into, electrifying story line
Disadvantages: There aren't any!!!!!!!!

This is the electrifying first novel of a new series of books by the best selling author James Patterson. Lindsay Boxer is the only female homicide inspetor in San Francisco and she has to be tough (even more difficult in her line of business). But what can prepare her for what she is about to uncover in the Honeymoon murders? A killing spree begins by a brutal maniac, he slaughters newly wed couples, and Lindsay is the inspecting police person. ...
...hard work is threatened to bring this murderer to justice when a personal tradegy occurs. She turns to Clare a coroner, Cindy a journalist and Jill a lawyer, for help with everything that is going on, hence the Women's Murder Club is born. For those of you who want a snippet, here goes "The killer had imagined this moment, this exsquisite scene, so many times. "Congratulations" the killer muttered, handing over the champagne. He stared at the man ...

Review of 1st to Die - James Patterson

New Patterson But still the same old Patterson

Advantages: Super story - mixing gripping action with personal emotions
Disadvantages: Not enough sleep for me!

I love James Patterson - and this novel highlights why. Having worked through the whole Alex Cross series I wondered whether he could really hit it off with a new character, a new set-up, a new style. I need not have worried. Lyndsay Boxer, the new heroine, is wonderful and, as with all Patterson, the pace is great, a real page-turner - too many nights with not enough sleep; I really couldn't put it down! Boxer, a homicide inspector, fights crime on the one hand while personal tragedy and challenge on the other. To aid her in her crime fight she sets of the women's murder club - 4 women, all in key roles and professions, who work together, trust each, and it really works (and the group of 4 obviously lay the pattern open for several more great novel's with the same group). The personal tragedy is very moving - a highly recommended ...

2nd chance, 2nd fiddle to alex cross

Advantages: good plot
Disadvantages: not as brilliant compared to alex cross

on from co authoring to release his own book, \'the blue zone\', which largely follows in the footsteps of Patterson. James\' Alex Cross series is one of the biggest selling series\' of all time. Main Plot of book: After the events of the first book, Lindsay is unsure if she can carry on her duties as a detective. But when a little girl is shot dead outside a church, she knows she must put back the women?s murder club and solve the case. Joining up once more with reporter Cindy Thomas, assistant district attorney Jill Bernhardt, and medical examiner Claire Washburn, also her best friend, the women?s murder club start looking for a killer who is turning his pursuers into his victims. My opinion: I only started reading the women?s murder club series after buying 1st to die with a book voucher, and after becoming engrossed in ...
