event on Earth, the PSone's 2002 FIFA World Cup is predictably a multimedia feast, with a passable game tacked on too. As with FIFA 2002 it's clear that the bulk of the development money has gone in the direction of the PC and next-generation consoles; that's not to say that the PSone version has been totally neglected, as the intro sequences and all-singing-and-dancing menu system testify. It's just that when you cut to the match action, things don't flow together as well, with jerky scrolling and under-impressive visuals. This does leave the player more able to concentrate on the game itself though, and the match engine is packed with neat little moves and touches that, with practice, will help send your selected team to World Cup glory. Replete with the full player rosters, official kits and the full tournament to play your way through, the game centres round the tournament at the expense of other league-based options--but then you can't argue that it doesn't give you what it says on the box. 2002 FIFA World Cup, despite its flaws, could be just the title for the undemanding, younger player who's not particularly experienced with games in this genre. For while the game does little to threaten the position of the PSone's current footie champion, ISS Pro Evolution 2, it's simple to get into and provides a decent enough challenge. --Simon Brew
promises to capture every moment of glory every emotion every sound and every aspect of a truly global event giving consumers the opportunity to kick-off the FIFA World Cup frenzy by playing in the tournament before it begins. Gamers will find a whole new world of showboating and high-tempo high-impact action obvious from the first touch of the ball.
mascots and the 20 new World Cup stadiums in Japan and Korea promises to capture all the excitement of the tournament. Teams will be met with a rising tide of crowd excitement with thousands of fans sporting team colours country-specific chants and an explosion of special effects including lasers confetti streamers and flags. 2002 FIFA World Cup is based around a seven-game series beginning with round-robin play followed by playoffs leading to the final match with a progressive story line and a rising intensity as you advance; you'll find lifelike representations of all the star players combined with the exceptional individual talents that characterise their style of play in real life. Accessible new gameplay delivers intuitive one-button headers volleys scissor kicks juggling and more. Showboating and high-tempo high-impact play is straightforward from the first touch of the ball and new player-to-player animations result in aggressive jostling for the ball both on the ground and in the air. Key dramatic moments during the tournament are highlighted by epic cinematics - player animations original scores by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and special effects underscore the emotional range of play with increasing intensity as games become more important. New camera angles and replays capture the intensity of World Cup games as they dramatise nearly missed shots fouls and goals by focusing on players' facial animations as they grimace and fall to their knees in frustration or pump their fists and cheer in celebration of a goal.

...to play Fifa World Cup 2002 all summer. I recently bought this on Amazon, the main reason its 29.99 price tag. It is made by EA sports who make all Fifa games, and usually do it badly.
In the past they have had a few gems. Fifa ’95 for the Sega Megadrive is a good example of that as well as ‘Road to World Cup ’98’ for the Playstation. They have had a fair share of clangers as well. The main examples of these being ‘Fifa World Cup ‘98’, Fifa 2000 ... ...is very good on FWC 2002 is the sound. It uses the crowd to good effect and you feel closer to the game for it. One thing that it could have more of it Mexican Waves and chants.
It doesn’t use any pop songs for its menu music on this one either. Before it has had people like Fatboy Slim and Robbie Williams on its sound track. This time it has a band. No, not a rock band, a band. With trumpets and other assorted instruments. This helps build up a ...

Advantages: Tons of new skills Disadvantages: Quite a high price just for world cup game
I purchased FIFA 2002 World Cup after reading a lot about it. I also purchased it because i had and really enjoyed World Cup 98 on the PSX. After becoming slightly bored of PES i needed a new football game. FIFA 2002 was supposedly crap and This is Football definitely was crap. I was in need of a lifeline, then along came FIFA 2002 World Cup.
I was saved!

30 Foot Dummies Review of2002 FIFA World Cup (GameCube)by

Advantages: Graphics, Celebrations, Replays Disadvantages: Life Span, Passing
EA’s latest takes on the elusive football formula and delivers a highly enjoyable 90 minutes. In terms of looks the stadia renders and crowd in particular are magnificent by far the most impressive football game ever. On the pitch itself the facial textures of players is a major improvement on the previous instalments and players are actually recognisable from distance. Other details such as shadows and pitch periphery are faithfully reproduced too. ... ...garish mascots loom high above the game. Clearly Japan and Korea’s grounds have been accurately designed and the atmosphere is immense. The lack of much variety during single player tournament is made up by the beautiful day/night differences. The cut-scenes and replays too are a joy to behold. High-poly players implore the ref for leniency after tackles, post-goal celebrations and dynamically cut multi-angle replays mean there’s an incentive to ...

Advantages: Great graphics and all the up to date players and strips. Disadvantages: some small faults in the game.
This is a fantastic game better than all the other footbal games available. The graphics are spectacular and and the game play is just superb. The game is completely up to date with the new strips and players and the comentary is great. The crowd are there to cheer you on as you make your way to the top. This game makes you feel like you are in the the football stadium yourself because the sounds and quality of graphics are so immense. The controls ... ...control the characters at all. There are many options to choose from in this game such as penalty shoot outs, friendlys and the world cup itself. Overall everything you get with this game makes it simply irresistable and will keep you occupied for hours. The game is great value for its money as it is really cheap and a brilliant game. I think that it will interest all ages from 8 years and up. Do not hesitate to buy this game. It is available is ...
