... There's just one snag - it happens to be true, the gadget in question being an innocuous looking little toy called 20Q.
No, we didn't believe it either, and when my son suggested we try out his new toy after Christmas lunch, we agreed, if only to kill ten minutes or so before tackling the ... Read review

Advantages: Good family entertainment at a bargain Disadvantages: You rarely beat it
...is, not my son.)
20Q is manufactured by Radica Games Ltd, and it's a lightweight, plastic-covered device, about the size of a tennis ball, except that it's a bit flatter. It's operated by two AAA-size batteries, and has a narrow LCD screen in the centre, above a series of buttons marked "yes", "no", "unknown" and "sometimes". The idea, which is based on the radio programme, Twenty Questions, is to think of an object, and then to answer, as honestly ... ...really going to help? Well, 20Q certainly finds them useful.
Of course you have to be scrupulously honest with your answers - it's no use whatsoever to answer "no" to the question "can you read it?" when the object is a book, for instance, although don't bet on the little devil getting it wrong with just one duff answer! It's also not advisable to try and be too perverse in your answers either, by insisting for example, that you'd find a bus in ...

Advantages: It really works - it's amazing! Disadvantages: Only one function, the longetivity isn't very long
...get the right answer!
20Q is brilliant. It comes in various colours, is a small round handheld electronic toy that requires 2 x AAA batteries, and all its information is displayed on an LCD screen. The most difficult thing it has succeeded in guessing is a Chow Chow (my favourite breed of dog)! I was stunned, and it is great to play with your friends and listen out when they play it for the first time and it to guess the thing right and the screams ... ...will find yourself playing the game constantly to figure out something that will beat the little blighter! It will guess probably about 90% of the things you think of, so long as the answers you give are correct and honest. But like I said before, even if you put one or two incorrect answers it may still get the answer right!
It is quite a feat how the thing manages to work out what you are thinking of by seemingly unrelated questions. The best ...

Can I ask you? Review of20Q Interactive Toyby

Advantages: will amuse you Disadvantages: but not for long and it annoyingly noisy
...ball. Above this is written 20Q in silver which looks quite good on the coloured background. Below the screen are four round buttons labelled Unknown, No, Yes and Sometimes. In addition the Yes button has New Game below it, and finally two small buttons which you probably wouldnt notice if not for the lettering beside them which are Reset and Sound. I wholeheartedly recommend switching off the sound as it is extremely irritating!
Switching it on ... ...mine is asking me 'Ready?' and bouncing the word around the screen, its quite dark here so I switched on the backlight (the switch for this is along the 'seam' at the bottom) and the screen lights up red. At the first question you need to scroll through the four options so you have the two buttons to either side of the screen.
Hit 'Yes' again to start the game. I'm thinking of a fish tank. So the first question is Animal, Vegetable,Mineral, Other, ...

Damn You 20Q Review of20Q Interactive Toyby

Advantages: It great fun, Very addictive Disadvantages: The sounds can get annoying.
Everyone remembers the classic game of 20 questions. One person thinks of an object and the rest of the people try and guess what it is by asking a series of questions in which the thinker will respond with the answers yes, no or sometimes. The aim of the game is for the guessers to get the object within 20 questions, hence the name 20 questions. Well that’s maybe how your grandparents played the game but technology has caught up and here it is……… ... ...a frosty Christmas morning (aged 22) when my mum had bought it to pass time during the day and get the family interacting with each other which is supposedly what Christmas is all about ( I thought I was about socks and drunk grandparents but there you go). Needless to say we played it all day and had a right laugh at the same time.
The ‘device’ as I will describe it looks fairly innocuous, a small purple yo-yo looking gadget with an LCD screen ...

Advantages: Great fun Disadvantages: Possible gets a bit tedious after a while
...If after all the questions 20Q cannot guess the correct answer he will ask another 5 in the hope they will draw him to the correct conclusion. If he fails you win.
This neat little game will set you back around a tenner, but it will keep you occupied for hours trying to beat it. It is beatable and it does not always get the exact answer, so there are times when you might have to concede that it is in fact in the general vicinity of the correct answer. ... ...to turn off the backlight to the display, although it is better played with it on. The bright red screen means the small writing is clearly visible even if at times the questions do seem to rush past a bit quickly.
All in all this is a very good little game which seems simple but does require a bit of thought if you intend to be victorious more than you are a failure. The only downside is that after a lot of games is does tend to become a little ...
