When I decided that I wanted a website in January 2001 I looked at a lot of web hosts but didn't have a clue what I needed and what all those technical terms meant describing the different services on offer. 20Megs of free webspace! The only two free website hosting services I have used are 20m and Yahoo! geocities. 20m is far superior. It scores over geocities in that the address yourname.20m.com is much more memorable than geocities.com/yourname. It also offers more free web space, and there is only a single banner ad at the top of your site. Simply click on the file manager, and a simple drop down list of your files appears. You can either use your own web-site designer, or just type raw html code into the site. I joined 20m.com in 1999 and ever since, I have never had a problem with them. They offer completely free hosting, with only one advert displayed on the top of your pages. They also offer free email addresses and web publishing tools. Not forgetting thier excellent utilities for monitoring the traffic to your site.
