...Hello.. this is my first opinion on uk.ciao.com ... now this is one of the most usefull grey boxes on that scale i have ever seen ! Because of the sililarites between LAN and ISDN connections they can both use the same wire, RJ45, and so £com created a card which would not only serv as your ocnnection to the internet via and ISDN line... But AT THE SAME TIME communicate with the other computers on the network. This is ideal for Internet connection sharing as the information requested can be instantley picked up from the card and sent back to other remote computers as the internet connection is in the same place !! It is expensive but.. good !!...

Advantages: Easy to install, fast, reliable, compatible, cross-platfrom support, good looking, one of the best products of any type have ever used. Disadvantages: technical support isn't 100% but you won't need it anyway
...I bought the Billion 128K USB ISDNTerminalAdapter on the advice of a friend who is an IT technician at my college here in england. After much shopping around finding only expensive ISDNadapters which I guess performed well, being from well known companies such as 3COM, I decided to buy a cheaper, internal device. After a month of use, I decided the device was pathetic, useless, and unreliable. I asked another home highway user what he used to get his 26k/sec download speeds and he reccommended the Billion USB TA. for sixty quid it wasn't terribly expensive, and although I'd never heard of Billion before, I decided to buy it, and I'm glad I did, it connects in 1/3rd of a second, it stays connected, never fails, installs like a dream, and is exteremely fast, pushing the speed capability of ISDN to its limits. it is also very good...

Advantages: 3COM build, good drivers, fast Disadvantages: Cost
...I've written other 3COM/USR opinions on this site so if you've read them you'll know how I feel in general about ther kit :-
Expensive but generally worth the money in terms of support and quality. (Winmodems aside!)
This product is no exception to that rule. The cost is indeed up there in comparison to other endors but the package you get in as good as you'll get.
Card, cables, excellent manuals, drivers and a lovely shiney box.
Installation is a doddle, or as much as a PCI card can be, and the drivers worked after a fashion on NT. In terms of operation the system works just the same way as a standard modem but connects a lot quicker and runs a lot faster.
Performance when connected was as good as the ISP used at the time. The card itself performed well and didn't suck up too many system resources when running.
All in all...
