The 3Com OfficeConnect ADSL Wireless 108 Mbps 11g Firewall Router with eXtended Range technology combines an ADSL modem, router, 802.11g wireless access point, four-port switch, and firewall to enable up to 253 total (64 wireless) users to economically and securely share a single ADSL connection. The high-speed routing engine and 108 Mbps wireless throughput easily handle large data transfers and Internet downloads, including those from multimedia applications. Providing a high-speed, 108 Mbps wireless connection for users with compatible 108 Mbps 802.11g-equipped PCs and laptops, it is also backward compatible with 802.11b wireless LAN equipment, preserving existing network investments. This Wi-Fi certified router also features support of Wireless Distribution System (WDS). WDS simplifies setup of an extended or completely wireless network (requires access points that support WDS). The 3Com OfficeConnect ADSL Wireless 108 Mbps 11g Firewall Router is equipped with eXtended Range technology, a new advanced chipset featuring new base-band architecture that enables long-range connections. The architecture delivers receive sensitivities of up to -105dBm, over 20dB better than the 802.11 specification. This technology provides coverage in home networking environments with a single access point, eliminates the dead spots in corporate wireless LANs, and provides unobstructed coverage of up to two times the distance of competing WLAN solutions. Advanced wireless security and multiple firewall features offer a strong level of protection for the network. To shield wireless connections, the 11g gateway router implements 128-bit WPA/WPA2 with TKIP/AES encryption for maximum security, along with 40/64 and 128-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption for legacy clients. A stateful packet inspection firewall, hacker pattern detection, URL filtering, IP and MAC address filtering and support for the SurfControl Web Filter service and other security features help protect the entire network from attacks and other Internet security risks. For features this router provides a transparent bridge firewall with proxy ARP, 1-to-1 NAT, NAT off mode and more to increase flexibility in deployment. Designed to be easy to set up and use, this firewall router can auto PVC scan simplifying installation.

...I have used Netgear router and based on my experience i can say that performance wise its really good. There are some problems like connection gets disconnected sometimes but that happens because of other frequencies as well, so if you configure your router in a good way, it really gives you a great output.

...In my opinion this broadband ADSLrouter is one of the best on the market considering its price.
I have been using this model (I've had different versions) for a number of years and never have I known one to fail; this is especially impressive considering I never turned them off when in use. I am a very heavy internet user and when configured correctly delivers on the speed that you would expect.
In terms of 'plug and play', there is very little needed to be configured on this product to start surfing away and it comes with a single quick start sheet that shows clearly how to access the configuration page through a web browser initially.
For more advanced users it is very easy to configure port-forwarding (useful when playing online games or downloading via peer-to-peer to achieve the desired connection speeds). It even supports VPN...

The OfficeConnect has all the usual features one would expect from a mid-range wifi ADSLrouter - Quality of Service (for using Skype etc), Good built-in firewall for example.
My favorite features of the OfficeConnect are: The ability to switch the wireless on/off seperately, the lifetime warranty, wall mountable bracket, very easy instalation/setup and it's good performance record.
The only two negatives for me are: There's no way to add your own antenna to the router and the fact that you can't limit the traffic for WiFi or local use.
Overall the 3Com officeconnect is a great mid-range adslrouter with easy setup and a great performance record....
