Advantages: Unbranded Memory is very cheap to buy
Disadvantages: Unbranded Memory can not be overclocked

..., I have noticed from the trade magazines that Ram manufactures are making a loss because of the low prices and they are starting to increase prices. Try looking at Ebuyer.com or Crucial.com on the Internet, as these are probably the cheapest suppliers at the moment. The most common sizes are 64Mb, 128Mb, 256Mb, 512Mb and 1Gb, obviously the larger you can afford the cheaper per Mb it becomes. The difference between Branded and Unbranded Ram modules in my view is that the Unbranded modules are far cheaper and they are as good as the Branded ones, with no difference in performance. If you want to over clocking your computer, which I would advise against, then you would need to purchase Branded modules, as they tend to be able to handle the increase in performance.
