...This 3Dlabs card is the latest Opengl based card that I've purchased for running 3D and 2D professional applcations with. My area of interest is 3D animation, and then adding this to live action footage. Software I use includes Maya, Softimage XSI, Combustion, After Effects and Premiere.
This card performs well. For the money it has a very high spec and sits in the middle of the Wildcat VP range. However, the next two cards up only really have AGP 4x and 256Mb or 512Mb as the extra features, and so in essence this card is pretty much at the top of the VP pile anyway.
I run this card under windows 2000 using a 2560x1024 resolution under two 21 inch monitors. The dual monitor support is excellent, with none of the early issues with windows only wanting to display on the primary monitor etc etc. This is due mainly down to...

...So you are thinking about a MacBook Air? At over $1700/£1200 even for the entry level it's not an impulse buy, so it is good to think through the pros and cons of this machine to decide if it is really right for you.
PROS:
1. THE LOOK: It's cool. Really, seriously cool. It's incredibly thin and light, so thin you could put it in an envelope and post it. There is no better machine to carry around if you want to impress your colleagues. At its thinnest it is only 0.16" thick.
2. THE HARDWARE: It comes with Core2Duo (a choice of 1.6 or 1.8Ghz) and 2GB RAM which is what most of us need, plus a good standard of video card and a 64GB solid state drive.
