Bose SoundDock Digital Music System
I happened to get this as a gift and it turned out to be quiet interesting
Summary:
This dock is used mainly for ipod and allows you to connet mp3 players to it and listen to high quality music via speakers. It is idle for homes and small gatherings, although I would not run a party off these.
Pros:
This system has terrific sound and can go very load despite its relative small size. As with almost all Bose speakers the quality is amazing, so long as the source you are playing it from is high quality it will allow the speakers to each its potential.
I have a surround sound Bose set up in one of my rooms but now prefer to use this product as it is very simple to operate. Just plug the mp3 player in and press play and your set. Can't get much simpler. It also runs off a wall ...

I purchased the bose sounddock on a recent trip to the USA needless to say it was a lot cheaper out there i paid about £150. It's small and fairly lightweight: 6.65" H x 11.91 W x 6.48" D (16.89cm x 30.26 x 16.47cm) 4.56lbs (2.1kg)
It comes with credit card sized waterproof remote control which comes in really useful if you want to use it in the bathroom!!! The sound quality is amazing, especially considering it's coming out of something so small, crystal clear and very loud, and does not distorte when turned up.
From the remote it can be turned up and down skip forwards and backwards play and pause and from the sound dock itself it can just be turned up and down. The remote control takes 1 3volt lithium battery which apparently lasts between 1 and 2 years (but i've not had it long enough to know if thats correct!)

for mess and losing things excluded. It is the size of a credit card and almost as thin... basic controls only, but it looks good and allows room on the sofa for the other monster size sattelite and DVD remotes. No need to point directly at speaker either.
Connectivity
Again not as good as other systems such as Altec Lansing IM3. There is no input connections (so you cant play any other media) and as stated above no outputs for external BAss systems.
Display
Another trivial problem that makes sure that the best mini and midi hi fi systems just edge the Dock. The system depends upon the IPOD display screen, which as you may well know is small and difficult to read at range.

Very basic.... simply on the system vol up and vol down
on the remote add FWD/REV track selection, play and pause
