In our world now data protection is oh so important and we have to ensure that if we are handling peoples personal information we have to handle it in a way that it is kept secure and not leaked to anyone else. This is vital especially in my line of work as I deal with children's information.
As a precaution we have all been issued with these screen filters which are totally different and unique from the normal anti glare filters that you can buy to cover your screen to prevent glare.
This filter fits over any pc monitor, but are mostly suited for 16” - 18” monitors. It clips over the top edge of your monitor and stays inplace by stick on velcro.
When you are sitting directly in front of the pc you are able to clearly see the screen and what is being displayed on the screen. However people who walk past you or stand diagonally at the screen will not be able to see the screen, instead the screen will appear black. This is great so people who pass through the office can not see sensitive information on peoples pc screen. This was a major problem for my office as people where constantly walking through and could easily have seen children's name and addresses etc. But now we have these filters fitted on every monitor we can be confident that the information that we have on our screens can not be seen by any one else.
(It's also good for when you are looking at personal emails or the internet during work time as no one will be able to tell what you are looking at, but I abviously woudn't recommend it!)
As well as this filter having this special filter, it also works as a normal filter, reducing screen glare which can cause uncomfortable eye strain. It prevents any glare that you get from unnatural lights or windows making you able to see the screen in any light.
So if you work with peoples personal information and you have people walking through the office or visitors then you should invest in one of these filters to prevent people looking at information that they shouldn't be allowed to see. This filter can be used on laptops as well.
They are expensive to buy, but it will stop people looking at confidential information.
They are very easy to keep clean. You can use a special pc cleaning kit or a clean damp cloth.
