Advantages: good to see live gigs on the TV Disadvantages: usually greasy indie bands
This program is quite good if you like the bands they play but they are mostly indie bands that I never heard of that will never get into the charts. Basicly its just live giggs filmed at the Astoria probably ages ago, the only band Ive heard of that was on there was ash. If you like the bands great if you like that sort of music great but if you don't its like watching a load of greasy students playing. Halfway through it cuts to the NME journalists ... more

Halfway through it cuts to the NME journalists who go on about how crap the band is usually but this is a good gig, and at the end the camera is positioned by the exit and all the crowd come up to the camera and say who the particular band changed their life.

Having been to one of the nme premier shows (with ash, muse and angelica) I found it interesting watching the gig again several weeks later from the comfort of my own home, without having one of the tallest people in the world standing in front of me. It's always good to see more indie music on the tv - there are far too many top of the pops type programmes where you get the occasional band that doesn't mime and that's it. Advantages: Got that live feeling Disadvantages: Not to everyones taste
Once there was only Top of the Pops, now music shows seem to have taken over the whole of the TV.
Being a lover of music I see this as no bad thing, and I have particularly enjoyed these Carling Premier Shows. They feature a variety of well known and some lesser known indie bands live in concert, and are probably the next best thing to going to the gig itself.
They are not, however, probably everyones cup of tea, as it depends on which music genre ...
