A nice country park in West Yorkshire

Advantages: Free access, good quality footpaths, an old mill and boathouse
Disadvantages: Messy paths after rainfall

Newmillerdam Country Park lies adjacent to the main A61 Barnsley to Wakefield road in West Yorkshire. I have driven past here many times and I have always made a mental note to pay it a visit but it was only very recently that I finally got the chance to stop and have a look around. The country park is located approximately 5 kilometres south of Wakefield and covers an area of 237 acres. It consists of mixed broadleaf woodland centred around a large lake. When I visited here in early November the trees were lovely shades of golden brown. There is a large car park (pay and display) and a footpath goes all of the way around the lake. There are smaller footpaths that extend into the woodland and these are all popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The earliest reference to this area date back 1285 when the area was known ...

John West and the Albatross

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

One of the most versatile items in my kitchen cupboard are the tins of Tuna fish. I usually buy John West tuna, as it is available in spring water as well as sunflower oil or brine. I prefer to buy tuna is spring water as I feel this is a healthier option even though it is more expensive and not so readily available. The product ************ The John West brand began in 1885 in Liverpool selling fruit and canned goods. By the turn of the 20th century they were importing 250,000 cases of salmon a year. Today John West is owned and operated by Simplot ,Australia. John West tuna fish comes in convenient cans. I buy the 185-gram size tins, as these are the most readily available. Tinned tuna has a long shelf life. I bought a pack of 4 tins of tuna in spring water yesterday and the use by date is 2010. Tuna fish is high in protein ...

Review of John West Tuna Chunks in Spring Water

John West Tuna - Tuna salad, tuna toastie? I LOVE tuna! Mmmm fish

Advantages: Recyclable can, great tasting fish, contains omega 3.
Disadvantages: Can be a little expensive especially if purchased seperately.

I recently purchased 5 cans of John West Tuna in Spring water from Tesco for £5.00. Tuna is something that I don't fork out for (get it ;)) very often and therefore when I do buy it I like to buy a nice brand so that I'm getting something tasty. Tuna is a great source of Omega 3 and essential fatty acids but should be enjoyed in moderation due to worries over it containing traces of mercury, once a week is definitely advisable. The spring water variety I have is in 185g cans and each half can has 73 calories. The can contains 70% tuna, spring water & salt. The can is completely recyclable (wash it first though!) and is simply opened with a normal can-opener, you then need to drain away the spring water but this takes just a couple of seconds. I find that the spring water agrees with the tuna better than brine and leaves less ...
