Advantages: Cheap, great: graphics, scenery, weather, planes, ATC, systems the lot. Disadvantages: Very Americanized, computers becoming more available for FSX
Microsofts Flight Simulator series most probably the most famous, and bought flying simulators of all time, and the last couple of editions (2002 & 2004) have really shown what Microsoft can do . . . .
However, there has been much controversey over Microsoft's Flight Simulator series over the last year or so because of Flight Simulator X.
I'm sure you know by now this controversey is because of Microsofts "unwillingness," to put REALISTIC system requirments on the back of the box.
When FSX first came out, the average rating on Amazon.com was around 1.5 stars, this was mostly because of the simple fact nobody had the "super-computer" system requirements it really needed. This now has changed and it has gone up to around 4, but if you read the individual reveiws you will still find a fair few new reviews of 1-2 stars.

It was about a 3D computer graphics program which the readers of the article were interested in buying. Realising that this product had already ...
Advantages: Stunning Graphics, More Aircraft, MS's Best Yet Disadvantages: You'll need a supercomputer to run it!
've taken off?') but if you're looking for realism, stunning graphics, well modelled aircraft, aerodynamic effects and every airport you can imagine then it is the best you'll find by a long way.
As with most Microsoft products, however, it does have the downfall that unless you're running a parallel processor supercooled computer; (and most of us aren't!) then you'll have to turn down some of the options. If you do have a brand new up to date system, then I envy you, as the graphics and effects are stunning even at my level - I can only imagine they'd be close to perfect with the sliders turned to max.
Another feature of most MS flight-sims is the upgrade capability - there are usually a wealth of updates and new aircraft available on the web. Development on new ones for FS2004 doesn't seem quite up to speed yet, but I'm sure it will pick ...
