Given our latest spurt of glorious weather, I have had to face the fact that the garden needs a make over! I desperately needed to replace the small wooden patio set with something reasonably cheap and cheerful.

My search, as always starts with Argos, and instantly this table caught my eye! It looks smart modern and tasteful and is not to big for my small garden.

The set comes in 2 boxes which I easily fit into my fiat punto with just having to put the back seats down. One box contains the chairs, table legs and the parasol. This box weighs 19.5 kg so may require to people to move it, box 2 contains the glass table and weighs 10.7 kg.

CONSTRUCTION

The catalogue does specify that this is a 2 person assembly so I did rope somebody in to help, however, apart from the lifting of the boxes I would have been able to put this together and set it up properly myself.

The chairs are pre-assembled and folded flat. These are steel framed with polyester and textoline, making them easy to wipe down as well as being hard wearing.

The table has 4 legs that need to be inserted in the 4 slots around the outside of the glass table, then you need to screw the legs into the 2 base's using the alan key provided. This assembly is straight forward and didn't require a read of the instructions provided.

The parasol that came with mine is the same blue as the chairs, it comes in 2 pieces and requires the press of a button at the top to collapse the parasol. The canvas style material to the parasol is thick and sturdy and gives great protection from the sun with its 180 cm diameter.

OVERALL OPINION.

I am really very pleased with this patio set, I paid £59.99 (and got a £5.00 gift voucher). The chairs are comfy and sturdy and the table feels really sturdy and not like its going to be blown over by the first gust of wind. However, I do make sure I take the parasol down whenever I am not using it as I do feel with that up a gust of wind would surely send the table crashing.

I like the fact that it is very easy to assemble and also take apart for storage, and it would not take up much storage space.

I will point out that the diameter of the table is just 80cm which is perfect for me and my daughter, but 4 people sat around it with dinner plates and glasses there wouldn't be much spare space left on the table.
