Howver, over the past couple of years the selection of music has gone completely downhill. If you're into current pop-chart music only, then that's ok - Capital is probably fine. If you are lucky enough to get on their playlist then you could probably retire from your royalties, and you're likely to get played at least once every 2 hours from what I have heard.

Howver, over the past couple of years the selection of music has gone completely downhill. If you're into current pop-chart music only, then that's ok - Capital is probably fine. But as to playing anything a little more grown up, forget it. In fact, even the selection of chart music they choose to play is pretty limited and seem to pick out just a few favourites from the top 40 and repeat them over and over again. If you are lucky enough to get on their playlist then you could probably retire from your royalties, and you're likely to get played at least once every 2 hours from what I have heard.
It's a real shame because they like to think they are the radio station for the Capital, but the music just isn't representative of the population of London; age-wise if nothing else. We are not all teenagers in London!!! And I'm not talking about playing the really old stuff - they've got Capital Gold for that - I mean just a bit more variation on the music of today would be a good start.
When I am in my car, I am constantly switching from station to station, and sometimes end up listening to Capital for a few minutes; but it's not long before it bores me.
Talking of bores - where the hell did they get that "DJ" Martin Collins?? Not only has he got the most "send-you-to-sleep" tone to his voice, but he never has anything interesting to say, either. As soon as I hear his monotonous drone I have to switch to another station.
On the plus side, though, Capital has many interesting presenters, including Chris Tarrant and Steve Penk, who can be very funny. Margarita Taylor and Foxy are OK too. They also have lots of big money phone in competitions.
All in all, I would say Capital is OK to listen to for a short while, but if you're the kind of person who gets fed up hearing the same 12 songs day in, day out, then it's not for you.
Advantages: Keeps Chris Tarrant off the streets Disadvantages: Keeps Chris Tarrant in work
Want to hear interesting new music on the cutting edge? Postmodern presentation styles? Clever humour? Intelligent talk? You'd better tune elsewhere then.
Capital, whose name is surely missing an 'r', is the most stagnant, dull, uninnovative station I have ever had the misfortune of enduring.
Every morning for several hours, a bloke who really doesn't need the money sits in a studio reading from newspapers that the listeners are presumably too ... ...insane enough to 'phone in, and playing what feels like the same four or five records on a loop, ad infinitum.
Capital's "music" policy is simple. Play whatever's in the top 20 or likely to be when it's released. Ignore everything else. It's no wonder the charts sound so repetitive and awful these days when radio stations like Capital don't allow any new bands or interesting music to break through.
And of course, because this station is so bland, ...

Advantages: Chris Tarrant Disadvantages: Tedious, repetetive choice of music
I remember sitting in the car on the school run in the morning, listening to Chris Tarrant having all kinds of fun in the morning, on Capital FM. After school, there was all kind of good music played, from all over the eighties and nineties, as well as current hits.
Well, Tarrant's still there. Unfortunately, though, their music policies seem to have changed. Or maybe it is just the personal taste of the DJs...
Last Autumnn, the station went through ... ...not a bad idea in itself: the Ibiza hits were very popular at the time. However, they should not have played the same five songs over and over again. unfortunately, this is what is happening now: only the top ten or twenty hits ever seem to be played anymore. The lack of variety pulls Capital way down passed its rivals, such as Virgin Radio.
if it wasn't for Chris Tarrant, i believe Capital would lose huge numbers of listeners. ...

Advantages: 'Late and Live' is an excellent program Disadvantages: Too much garage, too much showing off, too many adverts
The problem with Capital Fm, is that it is desperately trying to keep up with other stations like Kiss fm, Radio 1 and various pirate stations. It has always had listeners of all ages, but now it is trying to gently nudge the older listeners away and make it a young, 'hip' station. I must stress, I myself am actually 16... and not impressed. For a start, many of the djs are old, this is not really giving off the young image, yet these are their best ... ...up on the latest music craze, 'garage' and plays it far too much, with whole programs on it on friday night. The recent world wide known event 'Party in the Park' is actually made by Capital fm (and The Princes Trust) and on the run up to this, they seemed to manage to talk about it in every talking slot. OK, so it is something big and something to be proud of, but it got extremely irritating to just be listening to them showing off. On the more ...

Advantages: good presenters, good music Disadvantages: long adverts
As the title says 'Capital', its based in London and broadcasts to London and the surrounding areas. But living in Hampshire I can still pick up a very good signal. Radio presenters include Chris Tarant who has the breakfast show and is abit crazy but doesn't have any sidekicks unlike some radio shows. He has Russ who flys in the plane and keeps an eye on the traffic and some stuff they talk about is pretty funny. Also a couple of times a year they ... ...pounds by guessing when the bong is going to stop. Doctor Fox should be pretty well known around the country as the guy who does the Pepsi chart on Sunday afternoons. I am pretty sure he broadcasts from the Capital radio studios and then they broadcast over the local stations. In the evenings they have 'late and live' where they will talk about...well dodgy issues like sex etc. Down point to the station is that since it is so well known companies ...

Review of 95.8 FM Capital Radio
Advantages: Current, good for singing along to in the car Disadvantages: Little variety of genre
95.8 Capital FM is perfect for its listenership. Chris Tarrant has the right personality and voice for a DJ, but can get under your skin sometimes when he starts mouthing off some narrow-minded opinion. However, this doesn't happen often. What I do like about this station is that there is more music than talking.
Listening to Capital you will always know what the latest singles and releases are. And chances are you'll know all the words to every ... ...40 tunes over and over again. My biggest criticism of this station is that they only play Pop. There is very little variety of genre, which I would like to hear.
It is a very easy station to listen to as you know what to expect and you can sing along with all the songs. ...
