Living in Lancashire the main local radio station listened to is probably Rock FM, and from its name it would sound a good station for me to listen to with my taste in music (i.e. rock) however if I do tune in and listen, as I do at work (its not my decision what we listen to) I find that this station with the word rock in its title plays music as far from that genre as is physically possible. In the time I listen to the station on a weekly basis I probably hear about 2 rock songs in total, and these are the most commercial, pop orientated rock songs currently available.
The main focus of the radio station seems to me to be in the dance, R 'n' B and pop areas of music, none of which genres appear in the radio stations name... If thats the type of music you like then "Rock" FM is a good radio station for you to listen to, but for me, im afraid to say it isnt, its name seems to be one of the greatest misuses of the word in recent times (along with the catagorising of Avril Lavigne as rock also).
As a radio station in terms of its broadcasting and DJ quality Rock FM isnt too bad, it doesnt appear to have the annoying idiots that most radio stations are lumbered with nowadays, although my opinion of it would probably increase if it were to change its name to something more representative of the music it plays, whilst this would not make me want to listen to it anymore than I now do it would make its name less of a lie, plus it may increase the radio station's performance and listener ratings as some people may not be aware of the fact that a radio station named "Rock" actually plays not rock music but pop and dance, which if they like, they will want to hear on the radio.
The station does also feature regular traffic/travel and news reports during its broadcasts, and whilst most reports are in short they provide necessary information and the traffic information is full and informative.
Overall in summary, Rock FM isnt a bad station if your taste isnt Rock music, i guess thats how life is these days...

I listen to Rock FM but I prefer Key 103. I think that Rob Ellis is quite cute though!

lol, I always got very frustrated when I was at uni in Lancaster - it was either Rock FM, the crappy uni station, Radio One or The Bay. And they all sucked.
Advantages: Plenty of Different DJ's so The Music Isn't All The Same Stuff, Good Comps and Interactivity Disadvantages: Adverts Can Be Too Much During The Day
