1. It’s a Gas
2. Keeps me off the streets- sometimes. I used to wander aimlessly around the streets before I discovered Ciao, looking for spare change in the gutter, and trying to stop strangers in the street, and engage them in meaningful conversation about consumer issues, and other things such as poetry and the ‘meaning of liff’, then I found an internet site, that would do it all for me from the comfort of my own living room (well bedroom actually).
3. I used to talk to nutters at the bus stop, until it became dangerous, now I do it on here, in the safety of my own home.
4. Attention Seeker-enough said
5. I like to write, it improves my vocabulary, and communication skills.- even tho’ I use words like bovver, summink and bloomin’ to be different, and contrary.
6. I like the games that go on, unofficially. We all know that this is meant to be a consumer review site, I use the word MEANT, advisedly. Half of the people on here if you could get them to admit it are looking for more than a bit of info on the latest coffee grinder. Including, flirting, fighting and free entertainment.
7. Flirting with other members- YOU know who you are- the ‘looking for lurv’ merchants, who send you tantalising messages in your guest book, and double entendres, at 10,O’clock at night, when it’s getting dark and lonely.
8. Fighting with other members. You also know who you are- the power politics on Ciao is unbelievable; this site seems to be in a perpetual state of revolution, and one-upmanship. I like it when people complain about what I have said, and we can have a good old ding-dong, not that I am deliberately provocative you understand. I always believe in what I say, which makes it all the more fun when people disagree with you.
9. It’s free; I can’t afford to do anything else. As a (mature) student, I don’t have a lot of money so I need to find other like-minded delinquents, with nothing better to do with themselves than write ‘war and peace’ length articles on tins of baked beans…well, I found ‘em.
10. You can thumb your nose at people and they can’t touch you, Tee Hee! : P
11. I have the ability to make some extra money…HA ! HA ! HA !… I thought I would include that one for a sense of Irony. Anyone who has been here for six months or more knows that that is more a fact based in folklore and legend than in reality. I have been here for about three years I think (I must be up for parole soon) and I have made about £90. That is approx 1p for every thousand words I think, summink like that anyway, they pay Sun journalists more than they pay us, what does that say?
12. You get to say (more or less) what you like, within the realms of decency…and sometimes beyond.
13. I like talking to people. You end up talking to people you would NEVER usually get chatting to, at the bus stop, as mentioned previously, for fear of reprisals and/or them following you home, or even more disturbing, you following them home. I have struck up conversations and friendly arguments, debates with folks, on here, who would probably not give me the time of day if I met them in the street, or would run for cover if I approached them on the subjects of life, money, experiences and the rest of the TWADDLE that gets talked about on here.
14. I like a punch-up. The punch-ups are confined to the verbal variety, unless of course you go on one of the infamous Ciao, meets, something I have yet to brave. I am retaining my anonymity, for the time being, for fear of getting a bottle over my head, for some such remark I made several months or years ago, and have henceforth forgotten about. I always seem to be (conveniently) otherwise engaged when these shindigs go down, so I haven’t managed it yet.
15. I like making FRIENDS of course…MMnnnnnn, I’m a fluffy little bunny really, despite what I say in my reviews. I know this should have come higher up the list, but I only just though of it, which is interesting, if you see what sub-consciously must have thought of first LOL. Talking to nutters, thumbing one’s nose, attention seeking etc…oh well!
16. Anonymity – You can say what you like and no one needs to know who you are. I like the fact that people have to judge you on what you say, not on where you are from, or what you look like. I choose not to put a photo up, for this reason, that way you are not distracted by someone’s appearance, or social group. You have to give an honest response, rather than picking out people you like the look of, and avoids the ‘ I’m not voting for that ugly bleeder’ syndrome…not that I am of course. I don’t want all the ladies swooning over their keyboards do I, so I’ll stay picture less for the time being. Contrary-wise I like to look at other people’s pictures.
17. Brings out the schoolteacher attitude in me (not that I ever was one). I like marking other peoples work and leaving sarccy comments where appropriate, there are some members I would like to give a good caning. (For poor use of English you understand, nothing else!)
18. I like to be showered with praise by my peers for writing what in some circles, might be considered, piffle, drivel and certifiable non- sense. I do go off on a tangent at times, but this is what makes it interesting for me just to see, how far you can go before people revolt, and see if there are any other whackos out there.
19. I love getting RRC’s from people who hate my reviews, almost more than those who did like it. I love it, when I get some ranting little pedant, correcting my spelling mistakes, and telling me I ought not to be so rude about so-and-so, and the ignoring them.
20. I like to stay up late
21. I like to procrastinate
22. I like to argue
23. I like to read
24. I want an orange spot
25. I want some money
26. I want some cornflakes (no sorry, wrong list, that should be on my shopping list…)
27. I am a sucker for flattery and praise, false or otherwise.
28. I like it here.
29. I am addicted to Ciao because there is no treatment available, either privately or on the NHS. The only antidote for Ciao addiction I am aware of involves men in white coats, and a big net, which I am trying to avoid at the moment.
30. The people here are from a wide range of backgrounds and sometimes countries. Sometimes they are helpful, sometimes they are very helpful, and there are even a few who are exceptional, but without there are definitely more than one of two, who are decidedly ‘off-topic’, if you know what I mean, wink, wink.
(*maybe I am one of them LOL)
31. It’s like having a load of nerdy pen pals, who just have to tell you about their latest toy, gizmo, or device and they have to brag about it to someone.
32. I like having a rant and rave about what was on the Tele last night, especially when it is something I did NOT like, it’s always more fun!
33. It is very cathartic, and prevents me from going out in to the street and punching some innocent passer-by when things go wrong. This would inevitably lead to a prison sentence, and be most inconvenient.
34. Have you ever been on holiday, or not been able to access the Internet for any length of time. You know what I mean. Yes, you are addicted.
35. I like the general gossip, chitchat that goes on in the guest books. It’s a bit of a virtual world, where you know the chances of actually meeting anyone are slim, yet it’s a parallel universe in its own right. Forget ‘Second-life’, it’s all going on over here.
36. If you suffer from insomnia like me, and wake up at 5 o’clock in the morning like me, what else is there to do, except watch crap Tele? This is when many of my reviews are written, and it is surprising how quickly the hours fly past, until the rest of the world wakes up.
37. Anyone still reading this?
38. You can print the full version of this off and stick it on your toilet wall if you wish; it may get a bit lengthy and would be a good place to read it when it is finished. Probably the best place for it.
39. If I am doing this, it means I can put off doing other chores like the washing up, and the laundry. This why I look like a tramp, and eat food out of cardboard packets.
40. I like to show off. I like to give the impression I am some kind of intellectual/know it-all, when the actual truth may be open to interpretation. I shouldn’t really say that because it opens the door for people to agree with the fact, that I may not be as clever as I think I am.
41. I DO actually like to read other peoples work and give my own opinion on it. I find it interesting to read about what other people think on something I have also written about, I also like to read about new subjects I was hitherto unaware of or uninformed about.
42. There is a wide variety of subjects to write about, and when you can’t afford to buy any new toys, you can always write about your holiday, last year, failing that you can write a short poem and publish it in the Ciao café.
43. There is always something new to read, whether it is any good or not is debateable. It never ceases to intrigue me that there are new members arriving all the time and a seemingly endless supply of new opinions. A new Ciao member born every minute…or so it seems …Ahhhhhhhhhh.
44. I like to see inside other people’s heads.
45. It’s a representative cross section of society, including the dickheads.
46. Not everyone writes about products, many write about social issues as well.
47. I like the creative work such as the poetry, and more interest/harrowing life experiences, on Ciao Café.
48. I don’t want to send everyone to sleep and I’ve got chores to do.
49. I think that 99 is a notional number, isn’t it, and I’m not sure we have to think of 99 each do we!
50. To be continued…
Hillarious you are! LOL! I TOTALLY agree with jenj47 but still, it deserves an E! Shame I don't have any left :( - poke me if you wish and I shall return!
