This is the keyboard set I’m using at the moment ,and have been using for some time to be truthful. It was recommended by my resident geek who is incredibly useful to know.

A4 are a worldwide manufacturer of computer peripherals: specialising in keyboard, mice, and controllers and have been operating since 1987.

The keyboard and mouse are both wireless and both share the same receiver which also doubles as the battery charger for the rechargeable batteries. It takes 2 x AA in the mouse and a further 2 x AA in the keyboard.

The receiver has 2 keyboard and 2 mouse channels so it is possible for you to use 2 identical sets without them interfering with each other. Because the receiver recharges the batteries you are never in the position of having none charged up. As you take the old set out of the mouse and replace them with the charged set from the receiver you just pop the flat ones back in the receiver. It takes several days of heavy use of the mouse to use up the charge but it only takes a few hours to recharge them so it’s a good position to be in. The keyboard batteries will last weeks without needing a charge. A4 include 6 AA rechargeable batteries in the box

The keyboard:
-------------------
A4 have moved away from the traditional keyboard slightly. They haven’t changed the QWERTY layout just the key direction. A4 call this the Ergo A-frame. This slight change is hardly visible to the eye but it changes the position in which you type. The centre keys are slightly curved inwards, matching the way your fingers move so your wrist .elbow and shoulder position is more natural. It’s easier to see than to explain, so have a look if you like http://www.a4tech.com/en/press2.asp?AID=17

This supposedly helps prevent repetitive strain injury on your wrists, but I’ve never suffered with this so I can’t confirm it, but the keyboard is very comfortable to use. It has 19 customisable keys, including zoom, volume, calculator, outlook and save to name just a few. The office hot keys are particularly useful, as are the video and music keys but you can reprogram any of them to suit your self.

The keyboard is silver with dark grey highlights and black keys, the programmable buttons are silver. It has a nice sized lip at the lower end of the keyboard face which is a good place to hold it when carrying it about, this doubles as a wrist rest too.

Mouse:
----------
This is an 800 CPI (count per inch) sensor optical mouse. It too is ergonomically shaped and is very comfortable in the hand and has a thumb rest. You don’t realise how comfortable this is until you use a mouse without one. The mouse has an on/off switch so you can turn it off to conserve the charge if you like

The mouse has right and left buttons plus a scroll wheel. The upper sections of the mouse are silver and the lower parts are the same dark grey like the keyboard highlights

Wireless Set and Rechargeable Receiver:
----------------------------------------------------------
This uses 4-channel digital radio technology which is reliable. It has 255 user ID codes, so there should be no problem with radio frequency interference

Its operational range is within 2 meters of its peripherals. The RF Receiver is designed with two functions in one receiver. It functions as a receiver and a charger. This is a great power solution to a wireless optical mouse!

Set up:
----------
Connecting it up is simple. The receiver cable ends in 3 connectors, one goes in the computers keyboard port, one goes into the computers mouse port and the last goes into the computers USB port, each are colour coded. Other than putting in batteries that’s it.

The keyboard (as is the nature of keyboards) has ended up on the floor several times from a selection of heights but has never been damaged.

I like this keyboard so much that I keep a spare in the wardrobe for emergencies! and because it costs around £35 you can afford the spare
