Well, I've had five lessons with the AA Driving School now, so I guess I'm just about qualified to write an opinion on them.
The salespeople on the phones were very quick to promise lots, and deliver nothing. I have yet to receive my 'welcome pack' which I was promised. I don't seem to be making much progress, and my instructor seems to be very quick to anger which causes me to lose confidence. I was provided with a syllabus, but the instructor has made no attempt to follow this. I'm putting this down to my bad driving for now. The instructors also seem very 'keen' for one to buy the AA Theory Test book.
One bonus to the AA Driving School is that its fairly cheap for a national driving school - my lessons were £16/each if I paid in advance for twelve (which I regret now).
I've had fun and games as well. My instructor failed to turn up for one lesson. I was then in the middle of moving and so put my lessons on hold.
They tried to deduct a further 4 lessons from my account and I learnt that my instructor had left.
Also, I was also hawked the thoery test handbook.
Oh dear, doesn't sound too great. When I learnt to drive seven years ago, I remember the AA costing a lot more then independent driving schools. Not sure if this is same now! Don't buy the book, all that theory stuff must be free online somewhere surely? Good op anyway, cheers, AL.
