The AG8-3rd Eye is ABIT's version of the Intel 915P performance chipset platform. With SATA RAID, Dual DDR 400, PCI-Express X16, IEEE1394, Gigabit LAN, ABIT Engineered ́Guru and Guru Clock, this board is the performer of the year. Using the groundbreaking Hyper-Threading Technology and gushing with extra capacity and peripherals support as well as first class onboard sound, this board can easily be your foundation for a superb system.
Advantages: New chipset, and processor socket. Disadvantages: Isn't as advanced as it's made out
...For a new LGA775 Pentium 4 motherboard boasting raft of high-speed technological highlights, Abit's AG8 has a remarkably short and demure name. While I'm not overly averse to product names using the words 'hyper', 'ultra', 'mega' and 'superbadass', it's rare to see a new product that isn't shouting about it's various innovations.
The AG8 supports the new Intel LGA775 Pentium 4 CPUs, so the most immediate noticable aspect of it's appearnce is the huge buckle-like 'socket' itself. The AG8 uses the Intel 915P chip for the Northbridge, bt it is buried under a chunky heatsink with a 40mm fan attached to it. The 915 is the cutdown version 925, as the 865 was the cutdown version of the 875P, and the Pvariant denotes a lack of on-board graphics. While this isn't a serious omission, the AG8 also lacks the next iteration of on-board sound, Intel...

Advantages: Excellent for Overclocking Disadvantages: Needed a bios update
...I recently purchased the ABIT AV83rdEYEMotherboard and an Athlon 64 - 3000 (Winchester core) Processor.
I purchased the ABITMotherboard due to the fact my last motherboard was ABIT and I was totally satisfied with it.
When I got the AV8 set it all up with the new processor, I was let down because it did not work. As the processor was the latest version, the motherboard was unable to identify it, thus would not work. After purchasing a new bios chip for the board it fired up straight away.
So i installed windows and away i went.
I was totally amazed with the speed of the system and was so in awe of the new 3rdeye display.
For those of you who don't know, the 3rdeye is an LCD display which is attached directly to the motherboard. It is run by a seperate processor on the motherboard, and can monitor upto 5 fans (connected...
