...Having reviewed the No 1 in the world cd repair tool and found out it was a flop and waste of money, I have tried a few other techniques. This review is on the Procare CD/DVD repair kit found at Maplin and possibly other stores.
~ The kit ~
You get the cd repair too itself which is motorised, you get the adapter, cd sanding discs, cd buffing discs and cleaning fluid. It comes in a nice flat box that is easy to store after use.
~ How it works ~
This is slightly different to the worlds No1 cd repair tool in that it appears to look like a cd walkman, you put the sanding discs in first and then put the scratched cd in with label facing up. Close the lid, plug power in and the press the on button.
The tool will start sanding the disc to remove the scratch and will be done in three minutes, once finished take a look...

Advantages: Quality Build, No messing inside your PC, Bundled Software Disadvantages: Maybe a bit pricey.
...Having only a 52xCD rom in my rather dull (but quite adequate) IBM workstation I was missing the ability to burn cd’s backing up data important data that I could with previous machines.
Not fancying taking the lid of, and removing fiddly blanking plates - scraping skin off my thumbs, I decided upon the external USB approach, since like most, the PC is equipped with a fast USB2.0 interface.
The Iomega CD-RW 48x24x48x USB 2.0 drive appeared to be a good choice, Iomega being a well trusted and reliable manufacturer. I paid around £60 , but you may find it cheaper if you shop around. I did come across lesser brands with a similar spec at lower prices, but I felt they would lack the quality.
Upon opening, I was presented with a very solid piece of kit in a jet black finish. The box also contained a suitable USB cable, a figure...

Advantages: Keeps my Canon CCamcorder sparkling! Disadvantages: Price, there are better alternatives, probably at your local store.
...Well what can i say, this is a cleaningkit! it comes with a bottle of cleaning fluid, wipes and strangely instructions! well i say strangley but seriously id suggest taking a peek because cleaning and maintaining your video cameras is important, especially if you carry them everywhere!
This is designed for Canon 8mm Video cameras, but you can use them for ALL cameras, infact the alchol-based cleaner is handy for everything.
There are cheaper alternatives available, i got mine free with my camera but littleraly any hardware shop would stock a near equilivelant for only a few pounds so im not sure if i would bother actually buying this. It does what its designed for, not hugely exciting ....its overpriced, id suggest getting a cheaper alternative from your local shop (unless you get this free like i did!)....
