Advantages: shreds paper like confetti Disadvantages: poor design, poor assembly, limited life
RE: Model Personal Shredder V25 serial numbers. 2100900, V25* 1710030681
I bought a Rexel shredder some time ago for home usage, and have hardly used it. It has never been abused, and has always been stored sensibly. It will however be out of guarantee.
When I came to use it wouldn't work, although I could hear the motor. Since it was out of guarantee, I decided to remove the cover to see if there was anything that could be repaired. Imagine my horror when I discovered that the motor was not attached to anything. It had no fixing to any mounting. The drive shaft, almost having the appearance of a metal drill, was not engaging with the nylon cog that it is supposed to drive. The plastic collar designed to hold the drill bit onto the drive cog, was not securely attached; having originally been attached with cheap nylon screws ...
Advantages: Easy to use, looks smart, good price Disadvantages: Gets bits everywhere when you empty it if you're not careful!
A few years ago we bought a shredder for our office. We didn?t pay a great deal for it as it was a straight shredder and to be honest we got what we paid for ? it didn?t work very well at all. At first it used to cut up the paper but towards the end of its life it just used to frighten it a bit!

It was for these reasons that we decided to treat ourselves to a cross shredder both for the protection of personal details and those for our business.
We decided to go for a Rexel V35 which is currently ...

uplift if possible.
REXEL V35 - this little beauty matched all my criteria.
At just under £40 for LX.com (what Littlewoods Index Extra has become), it certainly fitted my needs.
It was:-
a) not too expensive and
b) made by someone I'd heard of.
To clinch the deal, it makes a more secure job of destroying paperwork.
Not only does it cut 4 mm stripes accurately, but at the end of every 4 cm it chops them off, leaving the remains scrunched up for good measure.
Thus someone trying to reconstruct a piece of A4 paper from that lot would have to tape something like1400 bits of annoyingly crumpled paper together, and that's assuming these were the only things in the collection bin.
The smaller nature of the debris makes a better job of filling the 18 litres bin which the main electrical mechanism sits atop, so there'll be ...
