The Logix 3000
Review of Logix DVD-3000 by

Advantages: Region 1, RCE compatable, MP3 and very cheap
Disadvantages: Black, big and problems with 'Seven' Collectors DVD
...resembled a beta max video (only exaggerating…its not that big!). Regardless I set it up in no time. The years of waiting had come to an end; I was now ready to hang out with the DVD home-boyz!
Two months later I can say I've put this player to the test. Buying many Region 2 DVDs and stretching out to Region 1. While inserting my first region 1 disc I held my breath (not for too long) and I was slapped with ultimate joy when the disc played first time. I’ve also tested the player with the new encrypted Region 1 discs, ‘RCE’. It plays them too (I had to adjust some of the settings in the firmware but within 20 seconds I was in business). Only recently have I discovered that the player struggles with the new Region 1 ‘Seven’ collector’s addition. There is upgraded firmware about which I hope will resolve...

What Would You Record ?
Review of Panasonic DMR-ES 15 by

Advantages: Good Basic + Easy
Disadvantages: Basic Function's
...My very first memory of recording from the TV is when my dad bought us a BetaMax player for the house and way back then more years than I care to remember, my first film on BetaMax was Star Wars yes a girl who like's Sci-Fi and I still do. The picture was never really good not that we knew that way back then and I was over the moon when my dad eventually went to VHS like all my friends. Nowadays both these recording types are seen as ancient and I feel old for even having known them but now is the future and DVD players are what I use not only downstairs but in the kitchen and up in the bedroom's. Even then DVD players seem to be very quickly becoming ancient and then new way of recording straight onto hard drives seems to be the way it is heading but for now I have a great recordable DVD player that serves my very basic needs...

Philips DVDR890- The cream of the crop
Review of Philips DVDR890 by
anthmack
Advantages: Wide Range of Compatible formats, Good quality recordings, good size, value for money, easy set-up
Disadvantages: Occasional flat audio, Manual is very confusing (just worked it out myself)
...* Initial Note *
At last, we can now record our favorite programs on to DVD. Slowly and surely VHS is becoming the old BETA MAX, and before you know it we will no longer see viedos in the shops. DVDs are surely, taking over.
DVD Recorders are surely a step in the right direction -moving away from the drone, and irritating dull quality that we have been used to for the past 20 years.
The Philips DVDR890 is just one of these new innovations, and as I have experienced, is one of the better ones on the market at the moment, reasonably priced to as low as £480.
So why is it a good buy?
*Features*
When I first purchased the DVD recorder just after christmas in 2003, I realised that it was very simple to install. Once you had plugged in all of the input leads from your different appliances, (and obviously gave it a power connection...
