...edge LTO tapes have a small spring loaded "door" at the side through which the tape is dispensed into the drive. So unlike your videos, which spool from one side to the other, this is spun out in one long line and then rewound. I could be totally wrong but Fuji and the other manufacturers are a little obscure on this!
Enough of that anyway; what do you do with them?
You copy your ever so precious data onto it. Now I'm willing to bet a penny to an LTO drive that your data isn't worth £3000+. Nope, didn't think so.
But for business it is. Frequently it's worth a lot more than that.
Your average home user will NEVER need this much storage capacity. Each tape has a native (I.E. Uncompressed) capacity of 200GB. Most home PCs don't even have hard drives that big. Compress the data and you can get a theoretical capacity of 400GB. More...

Advantages: Additional capacity - worked out of the box Disadvantages: None
...I totally agree with first reviewer. Worked out of the box. I partitioned the 400GB into two drives using Partition Magic 8 (which had previously baulked at a 160 GB internal HDD) and am using one for storage of digital images (duplicates to CD/DVD backups). Mine, even after three hours use, did not get hot - rather a nice warm value. It works very quietly and I can fully recommend this make and model as exceptionally good and extremely good value for money. When I think back to the 40 MB disc I used for years (Drivespaced, too) I cannot but think what fantastic value for money this is. As a supplement to my internal 2 X 120 GB HDDs, it will provide an additional capacity for my growing storage of high quality digital images (I am now a retired PRO Photographer and teacher of, says he blushingly, high international reputation)...

Advantages: Noise, Speed Disadvantages: Can't think of anything.
...I came across this a week ago, and was taken in by the capacity and low-noise level. It seemed perfect for installing into a media center PC. Media Center boxes for a lounge need to have plenty of space for recording tv shows, whilst being quiet as to not interrupt the movies.
This hard-drive gives you the best of both worlds. 400Gb - an abundance of storage. (Ideal for ripping your entire music collection onto it) or for movies and downloaded tv episodes.
You're probably wondering what the difference is between this and the other 400Gb drives on the market, and this one is quietly leading the way. Top performance, with whisper quiet acoustics.
My verdict - buy one today....
