Advantages: Cheap, provided Firewire cable and non-linear editting software Disadvantages: Editing software is basic
...I bought this because it was the cheapest firewire card that I could find in PCWorld for £19.99. I wanted it for my JVC DR-G33 DV camera so that I could transfer the video from it to the computer for editing. The card is used to add Firewire to your computer. You may already have firewire on your computer therefore you dont need this.
Firewire is used much in the same way as USB, however firewire is much faster than USB version1. Digital video cameras and iPods are the main things it is used for because firewire and iPods where developed by apple.
If you have ever installed a PCI card before then installing this will be the same. Easy once you know how and have the confidence. The manual gives really good directions on how to do this if it is your first time.
Installing drivers was easy - it was detected by my win2000...

Advantages: Watch TV on your PC! Record TV programmes with your PC! Record your home made videos onto your PC! So ruddy cheap! Disadvantages: Needs PC to work, sound is mono, has to be PCI version to be cheap.
.... Now how does a child like him manage to get a TV Card with his sort of pocket money and get good quality for his money? Simple! He went and bought himself a Hauppauge WinTV Express card.

You can hear it rattling around inside the box as you shake it, the box blatantly wasting precious card with all that space. But although I mourn the trees' wasted timbre (ish), the card itself is a very high quality piece of equipment.
Unpacking the card was a cinch seeing as there wasn't much packaged in the first place. Installing it was easy as pie as well, requiring you to dismantle your PC...

Advantages: The service Disadvantages: The timetable (at times)
...People who drive automatically assume that travelling by public transport is HORRID. It takes longer, it's probably more expensive, you have to sit with (get spoken at by) people you don't know and, very quickly, don't like, it's inconvenient?it has, in short, nothing to recommend it.
Those of us who don't drive are intrinsically more tolerant of all of the above. We have to be. That doesn?t mean that we aren't fair-minded and capable of writing a critical review when we get rubbish service. In this instance it is fair-mindedness that inspires me to write a review about un-rubbish service. Looking up National Express coaches on the site, I discover that they are not exactly flavour of the month.
My experience of them has always been pretty good ? with the exception of the one case where I was just going down with the Kathmandu...
