When our old oven finally gave up the ghost after 6 years of good service we went out to Comet to order a brand new one and after considering many different styles and designs we settled on the EAG D21004 double oven which set us back a quiet high £400.00. Delivery was reasonable as it arrived after 12 day's and it was very easy to self install. Being a standard sized double oven it slide straight into the oven housing we already had in our kitchen ... ...socket and screw in to the unit via the supporting screws at the sides. Because of the power of this oven I had to wire directly to the mains so unless you know what you are doing it would be advisable to get someone in to fit. Please whatever you do don't try and run such a powerful oven off of a plug it simply will not work.

The oven was a very nice size inside and added features such as the extendable tray brackets and non drop shelves made it super safe for use. The amount of times with my old oven that I dropped a tray trying to get it out I lost count not to mention all the cleaning. The oven is very quick to heat up but you do pay for this as it is only a B rated appliance when it comes to energy consumption and the dual grill although fast really spins that electric meter round fast. There is the option to just use economy grill which if your not in a hurry is always advisable. The oven as well as being fan assisted to distribute heat more evenly is also fully programmable and the manuals are very detailed and show you what all the different settings are for different tasks you may be performing with your oven. The controls are very simply and self explanitory knobs which you turn to the setting you require.
Timer's are essential in my house as I get so side tracked with the kid's running around that I very often forget I have things in the oven. The oven is very well lit with a light in each oven and I have no problems fitting a roast dinner in for all 7 of my family so no worries when it comes to what you can fit in. When cooking the front of the oven stays cool to the touch something that was a real problem with our old oven especially if the babies got close enough to touch and the glass screen makes it very easy to see into both ovens and keep an eye on what's cooking , this is especially handy when you are cooking things such as cakes and Yorkshire puddings where you can't open the oven door or it will effect the rising of your food. The glass screen is easily unscrewed for cleaning another feature I find very handy indeed. There is a defrost setting on the oven however I only ever use my microwave for defrost so have not really given it a go. Unfortunatly there is no self cleaning mode so when it comes to cleaning you need the Mr Muscle i'm affraid.

Overall ---------- I am very impressed with the AEG D21004 and would recommend to anyone considering purchasing a new double oven, however I would say that it does consume a fair amount of electricity so if you are worried about this you may be better looking for a model that has a better energy rating. A good double oven at a reasonable middle of the range price you won't go far wrong here.
