What a great machine. We subscribed to Which? over the internet and it cost £2.99 for the first month. It recommend a Miele at £1000 and this AEG L16830 as second choice for £483. For a £500 saving we went for the AEG as it had a larger load capability and there did not seem to be much difference in the Which? score. Like all of the machines reviewed they said the rinse was poor (The Miele was satisfactory) but there is a facility where you can set the machine to give an extra rinse permanently - so that is what we did. It is sooooooooooo quiet coampared to our 13 year old Zanussi. You barely know it is on and when it spins (upto 1600 rpm which is really fast) the noise is still good. The countdown clock lets you know how long to go - useful if you want to go out and hang it all out before. You can also set it to start working in 10 mins, 20 mins etc. upto 24 hours in the future so can use cheap electricity or just have it on at 5.00 in the morning and it will be ready to put on the line before you go to work. The washing seems good and we have only used the dryer for a few time as the weather is so good at the moment but that seems very effecient. The way it is packaged and put together is VERY study - it really is a well made machine. It uses cold water for the inlet - a standard fitting and the size of he machine is standard even though it does many kg more than most machines. We bought from John Lewis online (pickup a voucher from an internet site to get money off or go through Quidco) and no delivery charge, and for taking away your old machine and disposing of it 'greenly' there is another £9 - well worth the money. We only found one place cheaper - Redhill Appliances but they charged more for delivery/disposal so it was roughly the same price. Also John Lewis give an extra one year guarantee free. A great machine and very quiet.
