I'm used to US separate type washers and tumble dryers and love them and not at all happy with previous washer/dryers we had in the UK. But, that said, this AEG Washer/dryer made me completely happy with its performance and robustness. First of all, the machine gets clothes clean beautifully and gently. It dries them beautifully - I could not believe it was a condenser dryer, it was just that good! The machine is exceptionally quiet. Except for the final minute of so of the 1600 speed spin, the machine is so silent you have to look to see if it is running. This is a major bonus if you live in a flat - your neighbors will love you, or at least never complain about it. I dry clothes to store dry and they come out warm, fluffy, fresh, clean, and -almost a miracle - largely uncreased. I find it does a complete wash and dry cycle in much less time than our old Zanussi machine did. This is also the only front opening machine I have ever seen that lets you open the front load door to put extra laundry in or take out as long as there's no water or the water level is below the door line! Fabulous for those time you start the machine and then realize you forgot to load in the most important item. Or you decide to remove a delicate item from a normal load mid-dry, etc. It actually lets YOU decide what you want it to do. The machine has a very solid feel to it. It not only looks and sounds well built, it feels that way. They use extra bolts and stabilizers to make it very sturdy. Ok, yes, I love this washer.dryer. I better- I use it almost every day!

Good review, but you could have described the features in much greater detail.

Not a bad start but it would have been useful to know a little bit more about the various programs available together with details of the maximum wash load, energy efficiency etc.

being able to simply lift the lid and drop in a forgotten item is one of the things I def. mis about my American top loaders!
