Advantages: Full Night Vision Plus Great Day Vision Disadvantages: Slight Glow At Night, Slightly Larger Than Some
...PICTURE QUALITY
Having a CCD (basically a high quality lens with more TV lines than a CMOS lens, which is just lower quality) lens makes this camera have a superb picture quality. The range is dependant upon the light level and shadows etc. For example you could point it at the sky at night and it will see the stars, but point at a car at the end of your road it’ll probably see the car (distance depending) but it probably won’t make out the registration. However if you had this camera above a door you’d get a great face image of any intruder or visitor and likewise you could put it above the average driveway of a house and clearly read a registration from say five meters away.
FEATURES OF THE CAMERA
This is where the clever bit comes in. It’s long been known that a colourcamera will give you a much better picture during the day...

Advantages: HOME CCTV AT AFFORDABLE PRICES Disadvantages: NOT SURE REALLY
...with fixings and cables and ready to run. Easy enough to just plug in and it’s working. Again this is only really ideal if you want just the one camera. Available for around £60
Black & White Supercam
Now we start looking at the more useful camera’s to those of us who may want more camera’s and more features. This is the size of the standard colourcamera but this time in addition to the cables and such we now also get a PIR (passive infra-red) detector on the front of the camera and a small “beeper/control” that sits on a wire next to the TV. What this does is enable you to be alerted to movement up to 10metres from the camera. So if someone walks up you can set the beeper to just beep or you can also set it (if the camera is plugged direct to TV, does not work if running through a video recorder) to automatically switch to the camera...

Advantages: Small and Neat Disadvantages: No night vision
...PICTURE QUALITY
Great image as the camera uses the higher quality CCD lens to produce more TV lines than seen on the CMOS style camera’s. The range of the camera will depend on light levels and angle that you are to the camera. On a nice straight on shot you will get a really clear image up to about 5 meters away, anything over that and you start to loose the quality really. If your to the side going across the camera so to speak then you will probably need to be within about say 3 meters to get a decent image. However you will find that you can recognize people in most incidences.
DESIGN
Nice and tidy small tubular package. About four inches (ooohhh… is that allowed I should say about 10 cm shouldn’t I really?) in length and about 2 cm across it makes it easy to hide but also big enough in a shop to been seen so as to deter...
