Advantages: Brilliant bass drum mic Disadvantages: Quite bulky, and not the best on the market.

Advantages: Industry standard bass drum mic. Versatile. Disadvantages: Lacks the natural 'boom' of some other bass drum mics.
The AKG D112 is generally a very sensible purchase. It has a home in almost all studios, from the small time musicians project bedroom studio, to the pro's studio.
With a retail price of around £110, it's hardly breaking the bank either.
However, you may still need to pair this mic up with another companies bass drum mic, as it can be a bit 'extreme' in it's sound. The AKG really catches to slap and punch of the kick drum. Similar to a basketball ... ...the bass drum, and the AKG to get the punch and presence.
For bands using a double bass pedal, the AKG allows the bass drum to really cut through the rest of the instruments where a more 'boomy' bass drum mic may not have the presence to have more than a subtle effect on the overall mix.
Another great feature of this mic is it's versatility. Whilst it is mostly recognised as a bass drum mic, don't be afraid to mic up the floor tom, or other toms, ...

Advantages: Lots of different applications Disadvantages: Requires two for larger image pickup but that is standard with any of this kind
This little c451B is a great microphone! This is a condensor microphone manufactured by audio well knowns AKG, who also make microphones such as the C1000s and the D112!
These are sold separately or also now sold as a stereo pair for when recording ensembles for example! I personally use them in stereo pairs as overhead microphones when recording drums and they sound great!
The frequency range of the microphone is exactly the rough range of human hearing which is 20HZ to 20KHz, so it can pick up all of the frequencies we hear to give it a varied range in what it can be used for!
The microphone, just like most other condensor microphones, requires phantom power of around 48v to power it but this is standard in applications now and youll probably find that your sound card for example will offer this power to the microphone when ...
