Advantages Great quality free online courses
Disadvantages none!
I stumbled upon ALISON.com trying to search for a site where I could do an ECDL course, but for free. ALISON provided a course ABC IT, which has been quoted as being the best introductory computer course ever (saw it on Mike Greer's e-learning blog). It is a long course, but goes from the basics of computers up!
They have loads of courses on the website..I've just started the Microsoft Excel course and the Introduction to Corporate Management. You can go at your own pace, from the comfort of your own home, and become certified in these subjects.There is also a feature on the website where you can manage a group. I told a friend of mine who is a teacher and she is planning on using one of the maths courses for her students.
They really are great quality courses available for free.
