Advantages: Absolutely superb midrange frequencies and very smooth treble. Neutral and yet very atmospheric. Beats many speakers at twice its price.
Disadvantages: Slight problems with three-dimensional reproduction and upper bass overemphasis. Power-hungry and thus critical with some amplifiers.

...singled out the B&W CDM 2 and the ALR Jordan Step 2, a German-made speaker, from the rest. These two speakers can easily beat many competitors which cost twice as much, and no other speaker at the same price did come anywhere near the performance of these two in my test. Bear that in mind when you come across some criticism in my review. #25; Treble The high frequency sounds coming from this speaker are as smooth as silk. None of the harsh high pitch tones which so many metallic tweeters produce. Indeed you are lead to believe that you are listening to a speaker with a textile membrane. Yet it never lacks precision, the treble comes clear and bright. However, achieving this result requires careful selection of the speaker cable (see below). Advantages: Crystal clear sound quality
Disadvantages: Slightly large for a portable player

...This is my first taste of DAB Digital Radio and I am glad I chose this model. The sound quality is excellent for Radio, CD and Cassette. There are 10 preset stations that can be programmed and these can be accessed via the remote control. The only disadvantages so far are that the unit is a little on the large side for a portable player and also the remote control does not operate the volume. It is very straightforward to use and the display on the unit can be set to show a variety of information. The unit can also be powered by 8 C size batteries but I cannot comment on this power method as I don't intend to use this option. All in all I think this is an excellent entry level unit for DAB Digital Radio.... Read review
