Well in a word 'Yes!'
I have an XP processor in my present computer, and it has been solid as a rock from the word go!

AMD processors before the Athlon always had the stigma that they were never as good for games as the Intel equivalent, and to a degree, those feelings were true.. even the Celeron beat the K6-2 and K6-3 in games frame rates etc. This meant games which were responsive on the Celeron didn't have a hope on the equivalent K6. This made the AMD processor more of a business workhorse, coming out on top for all things business!

Well things have certainly moved on since then, and ever since the introduction of the Athlon processor, tables have turned in AMD's favour. They have been working hard on pummelling resources into improving the floating point unit of the processor (the part of the processor that does all the number crunching) and as a result, we experience faster and more responsive games! And for a fair price too-the AMD Athlon XP costs a fair bob less than the Intel equivalent and performs faster, at both floating point and the integer processing (for all you business people out there!) than the Intel equivalent.

So what am I saying? Well if you're about to upgrade your system's processor, and have reached the stage where you need a new motherboard, I suggest going for the Socket A - Athlon XP combination, it WILL NOT let you down! And you will be impressed from the word go! And if any of you are worried about compatiability problems... hey I've experienced none and I've been running the Athlon XP on an Operating system of the same name for a few months!

One last point, Athlon XP's have a little problem with heat and CPU temperature - if your upgrading, get a good CPU fan for extra stability!

You will not be disappointed!
