I recently used this processor when upgrading from a Sempron 2800+, which had come to the end of its lifespan.
This processor, was great from the start. It was easy to install (Though I recommend getting a professional to do it, if you don't know much about computers yourself.), Simply putting it into the Socket 939 compatible motherboard, with a small blob of thermal paste (Supplied) and then placing the heatsink on top. Wack on the fan, and you're ready to go.
It runs reasonably quietly, but if your looking for that "Silent PC" i'd say replace the fan/heatsink. Thats how easy it is. I've been using mine now for around a 4 months, without a single problem. Good work AMD :D.I've heard from friends that this Processor will also comfortably run Vista, if using it in a decentish system. I'll be upgrading shortly, so i'll keep you updated on that.
Top class processor for the average user, but wouldn't recommend to hardcore gamers.Other Thoughts: The price and the value you get for the price are both amazing. This AM2 socket CPU will allow you to get a better motherboard/ram than earlier sockets. This works great for an office computer, but I personally wouldn't use this for a gaming rig.
++++Well, simply because its not got the overclocking capacities as a dual core, / faster processor. If your wanting a chip for a gaming rig, I would suggest you look at either the Intel core 2 duos, or the Amd 3800+ range.
