desktop. Dual-core processors contain two processing cores, residing on one chip, that perform calculations on two streams of data, thereby increasing efficiency and speed while running multiple programs and the new generation of multi-threaded software. For the end-user this means a significant increase in response and performance when running multiple applications simultaneously. The AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core processo...

Advantages: 64bit computing Disadvantages: Windows does not take full avantage
...This is one of the lower end 64-bit CPU's from AMD. It does not however make perform badly.
This CPU is available in various versions this one is 512k L2 cache and running at 2.0ghz.
If you with to compare this CPU to a Pentium 4 you should not look at the Speed(Ghz) because the althon can handle more instructions per clock cycle. An athlon3000 is better than a P4 3.2ghz
I will break this down into Office applications and gaming.
Office : With this super fast CPU you will see improved performance across the board, with newer office applications such as open office porting to 64bit you will be able to take advantage of the newest technology without having to sacrifice backward compatibility.
Gaming : This CPU paired with a good graphics card (Ati 9800pro or above) will allow you to play even the newest games at blistering speeds...

Advantages: The forefront of technology Disadvantages: Price, lack of 64-BIT operating system
...The new range of AMDprocessors incorporate 64-BIT technology as well as a 1MB cache size. All in all this offers faster load speeds as well as more stable operation, in addition to providing years of future-proofing.
The numbers speak for themselves. Previously the processors offered by AMD and INTEL incorporated a mere 32-BIT chip architecture with low cache levels and lower front side bus speeds and CPU freuqncy rates.
However, with the launching of this new CPU range, one is not only able to harness faster CPU speeds, more cache and and the massive future-proof 64-BIT technology but also high front side bus speeds (FSB) and ultimately faster memory access speeds.
The real beuty of this processor is its capability to double RAM speeds by using dual channel technologies.
I could continue with this banal technical overview and send...

Advantages: Fast, Cheap, 64-bit, so much better than an Intel! Disadvantages: Lack of 64-bit programs out
...First Things First....this processor is actually called an AMDAthlon643000+, which means that it is the equivalent to an Intel 3Ghz. But it is called here a 2Ghz because AMD are better than Intel and their processors can handle more information, so can be slower, and therefore cooler. (e.g. a 2GhzAMD is the same as a 3Ghz Intel!).
Now to the review, i bought this processor because i needed a new one badly and this was faster, had a bigger cache and was 64-bit, then i saw the price and my jaw literally dropped, i couldn't believe it!
I installed this processor fine first time, no hassle (though i would recomment removing the thermal compound on the supplied heatsink and using Arctic SIlver instead) and it works like a dream, even though it is the lower end of the Athlon64 market! As well as working fine it can also be overclocked...

Advantages: Really good for multitasking. Great value Disadvantages: Cant clock it to 3 ghz without getting it really hot.
...Well this processor is nothing new really. It is pretty much the same thing as the amd 2700 chip. However it has a 512 cache. It is double that of p4s and other amd chips. Although it runs at 2.167 ghz it is faster than a 2.5 ghz p4. How cool is that. It can run most games fairly well. The only game it cant run smoothly is halo, even when I used a radeon 9800xt. However you can overclock it a bit to 2.5 ghz and it will run great.
Since it has the barton core like the amd64processor it will be able to run some 64 bit applications. I bought this processor because I was building a pc for myself. So far I have no problems. You can clock it to 3 ghz but you will need a better heatsink and a loud fan to keep it cool. I reccomend you only clock it 2.5 ghz max....

Advantages: very good for games Disadvantages: not very good for muti tasking
...amd have always been the bests for games but never 2 good for muti tasking but if your like me and you can have 2processors you should have one amd and Intel so your pc will be good for gaming and muti tasking so if you really want a fast pc you should used amd and intel together so that you can do all the things you want or you could just get two of this amdprocessor so that your pc will be 4.8 ghz with windows xp 64 bit it will work so much better and it is very good for the money and it takes no time to put in your pc i hope this has helped...

Advantages: Highest performing single core processor without spending £700 on a FX Disadvantages: Its not too good at multi tasking
...The AMD64 4000+ is the quickest and highest performing processor without spending around £500 to £800 on the FX line of AMDprocessors. This is an excellent chip if you want a performance boost that you can see as soon as you install it however with the new generation of dual core chips I would highly recommend one of them as they are more future proof than this processor. This processor gives your computer a nice boost to its performance, I used to run an Intel machine however changed to AMD and the AMD is definately better for gaming. In conclusion this processor is an excellent piece of engineering however with the developments in technology I would encourage people to go for the dual core technology....
