My Experiece ad opinion
I own this product for nearly 7 months and i experience no loss in spped or performance and there it performs great with all the multitasking that i do in my Windows Vista. I anyway sport a 2GB DDR2 RAM running at 667 MHz but initially i had only a single 1GB DDR2 RAM (667 MHz) and still it performed very well with Vista. It bagged a rating of 4.9 out of 5 and its multitasking ability was very good even at 1GB DDR2 RAM too.
This processor handled AERO with ease and smooth. WindowsFlip was very smooth and there was no performance or speed lag. It worked with top notch.
When it comes to gaming this processor performed pretty decently. It handled Gears Of war, FarCry, Crysis, Assassins creed well and all games ran fine and smooth at medium settings. I was not able to check its performance at high level settings as i don't have a good graphics card in this system, its only geforce 6200 PCI-E.
At stock frequency itself this processor performed well. But its performance was even bigger when overclocked. But i warn all those people that im no way responsible if the processor fails due to overclocking.
Let me not discuss about overclocking here in detail as it would become too technical when speaking about multipliers and all those stuff. But i tell you that overall performace was vell increased when gaming as nearly i noticed 15 FPS increase when i overclocked this one to 3.00 GHz (under water cooling).
Take a look at the FarCry game running in overclocked CPU at 3 GHz and notice the performance.
Also this processor only consumed normal amount of voltage when operated at stock frequeny and there was only minimal amount of heat production during its operation. Also CPU fan remained silent and well effectively cooled the processor. The heatsink was very sturdy and was a perfect fit for the processor(not a special point to quote, but still...).
So overall this card is a very good performer which has a plenty of room for overclocking of nearly 800+ MHz..So one can explore a lot with this processor.
So this product is highly recommended for those who opts for a processor at a pretty decent rate.

Advantages: Inexpensive dual core prossesor - Very low temp Disadvantages: No noticeable difference for gaming
...I always noticed my old AMD 3000+ processor was running at high temps (about 55 degrees+), I've went through many heatsinks and fans trying to find a quiet one with no luck always had to settle for a high speed fan that made a noisy system. I've tried running multiple programs and applications on my 4200+ processor (more than I need or ever would use) and I haven't been able to get the temp above 41 degrees which means less fans and low fan speeds ... ...regular basis on my old AMD 3000+ and then on my AMD 64 X2 4200+ to determine to loading speeds these are the results:
>Photoshop CS
AMD 3000+ between 25 - 38 seconds
AMD X2 4200+ between 8 - 14 seconds
>Dreamweaver
MX 2004 on AMD 3000+ between 9 - 27 seconds
DW 8 on AMD X2 4200+ between 3 - 12 seconds
>Flash MX
AMD 3000+ between 15 - 38 seconds
AMD X2 4200+ between 5 - 28 seconds
I also installed 3D Maxx, my mate uses it for 3d modeling, ...

Advantages: Dual Core, Low power usage* and Fast! Disadvantages: Motherboards can be costly for this!
I used this processor to build a completely new computer for xmas (a present for myself ha ha!) and when i first opened the box it was the usual core. In the package there was the core, cool silver gel, heatsink (fan) and the instructions.
I had to buy a new motherboard anyway but be wary the motherboards for the AM2 versions can be rather pricey but the advantage of AM2 means that a lower power usage and so a cooler processor and less fans needed! ... ...the newer DDR2 RAM which is roughly the same price as DDR RAM but faster! Excellent!
Installing the processor was little trouble and there were no problems.
The performance of the processor is excellent, dual cores are excellent things! I bought this after thinking about buying a dual core pentium however they are very similar but pentiums can be twice the price for the same spec AMD! In comparison to my old computer (old old p4 1.9Ghz with 1gb ...

AMD have had some bad press over the years and this 4200 processor does not help them. With only a poor 1 mb cache it gets tasks dont but you wont find it doing them in record time. I also find amd products are overclockable but confusing to do. But on the value for money side you cant really go wrong because the price is a lot lower than an intel but unfortunately this is because the intel processor is that bit better. ...cool in comparison to other AMD processors I have had in the past, and with a little research can be overclocked significantly with little heat increase. I currently use a small liquid cooling system on the processor and have had great success with it. As far as for gaming, there are other processors out there that would be better for performance, but you are going to PAY!!! For the price, this is probably just about the best Dual Core processor ... ...such as myself. Easy to install and maintain. Now for the bad: I have noticed in SOME (very few) games that overheating DOES occur, however this is only during intense moments that truly pull maximum system resources (i.e. epic battles involving many players [if online] or many units battling in the same area [for offline RTS type]). These instances were RARE and can normally be solved by turning game settings down.

with this CPU and 1.5gb, you would deffinatly benefit from upgrading to vista from xp (just like i did). Even though 2 gb is recomended, i found this setup more than enough.
One thing worth mentioning, this is one of the better overclockers out of thedual core range offered by amd, iv hit 2.7 ghz which performs like a 5200+!!!
This cpu would sit comfortably in any system at 2.4ghz with slight increase in voltage though.
The perfect ingredients for a budget vista setup would include this cpu as vista makes use of dual core for the operating system itself, 1.5gb of ram, although 2gb is fairly cheap now so you might as well go for that, and any graphics card that goes for £50 pounds.
To summarise, this is a good upgrade path for anyone with an am2 socket motherboard with an Athlon64 cpu. if you can manage to sell your existing cpu ...

Bought this computer for the gf. It (along with Vista) was very easy to get up and running. Only issues have been with the operating system and the power button. The OS has run VERY well out of the box (so kudos to MS on that), but it is definetely NOT XP. The power button is easily hit if which is rather annoying.
