    Advantages Advantages fast, and overclockable

    Disadvantages Disadvantages hot

As a stock cpu the XP2500+ continues the performance gains over slower rated cpu, but the XP2500+ also sees the introduction of the faster Barton core. The same type core as still used in the XP3200+. Not much to say on this side really at stock speeds... Ever since cpu first became interchangeable items in a computer people have wanted to try to get more from what they already have by forcing the cpu to run at higher speeds than it is officially labelled as...manufacturers often remark cpu that fail extreme environment tests as slower speed cpu, yet these would perform almost flawlessly at ... more

Advantages Advantages Performance, Performance and Performance

I wanted to upgrade my current machine, and usually the best way to do it is by getting a new processor. Being that I already had an Athlon processor (1.2 GHz T-bird) I wanted something that would be compatible with my motherboard. After reading a few reviews and comparing prices I decided that the Athlon 2500XP was the one that had the best price/performance ratio. Here are the specs: -Manufacturer: AMD -Core: Barton -Operating Frequency: 1.83GHz -FSB: 333MHz -Cache: L1/64K+64K; L2/512K -Voltage: 1.45V -Process: 0.13Micron -Socket: Socket A -Multimedia Instruction: MMX, SSE, 3DNOW ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast efficient and cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can get a little hot

Don't be fooled by numbers. You not only get a 333Mhz FSB capable CPU running at 1.84Ghz, but you also get 512k of L2 Cache. Twice as much as earlier thoroughbred versions from AMD. This ensures excellent performance for any multimedia PC (Gaming, or otherwise). Just make sure you have DD333 (PC2700) or greater before you purchase. If your not sure go for crucial you cant go wrong with them and its free delivery if you buy their ram direct. Now if your not afraid to tweak some settings and get your hands dirty in the BIOS this is THE current "Holy Grail" of CPU's in terms of overclocking ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy Overclock To 3200+ And So Cheap

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Based on my experience the 2500+ is an easy overclock to 3200+ You need a motherboard capable of 200 Mhz FSB such as one based on the NForce2 chipset. I am using an ASUS A7N8X-X which costs circa £50 to £60 Simply choose 200 Mhz FSB instead of 166 Mhz FSB for rock solid performance. Keeps very cool (circa 50 degrees under full load, 43 degrees otherwise) and despite the overclock is very stable. All this with the standard OEM heatsink, no special cooling required. One advantage of the ASUS motherboard is that you can increase the FSB by 1Mhz increments. I have had this at 208 Mhz with no ... more

I have had this Proccesor almost a year and half now. All i can sya is it is great, I have used my motherboards overclocking tool nad when running the sandra benchmark it has beaten the XP2800+, I know i coul go further but my memory is generic 333MHZ memory whih will probably be destroyed if i increase the FSB further. Although the Multiplier is shown to be locked on the overclocking software i have, i am sure it could be over come. THe only thing i would recomend is cahnging the fan for a quiter one and getting 400MHZ DDR Ram. As then you will be really able to let this processor rip. It ... more
