THis processor is the 2800+ model, which runs at 2.08Ghz.

I was always a fan of AMD but when I started to really learn the differences between them and their Intel competition I started to LOVE them.

I currently have this CPU running on my main PC, which I prefer to the Athlon 64 3000+ I also have.

Granted the 64 has more number-crunching ability, however for the price and limitations it has, the XP soars forward.

The temperature and voltage of this CPU may be relatively high, but for it's age it's a cracker. A bog-standard fan assembly will do fine, but personally I have bigger copper version, and my CPU hardly goes above 40*C.

During gaming this CPU has no problems at all and keeps Battlefield 2 running online at full graphics. Obviously, with a little help from it's AGP card and memory friends. No CPU lag here, even with my anti-virus, spyware and network running.

Also, for the overclockers out there, the CPU has a ton of potential and could possibly be the fastest socket A out there. The only other CPUs above the 2800+ are the 3000+ and the 3200+, both which have a 400Mhz bus.

Because the 2800+ has a slower 333Mhz bus, this can easily be overclocked becasue of the standard PC3200 memory that is available. With a spare 34Mhz before overclocking your memory, there is a lot of CPU potential here.

Also, to be noted, I used to have a 2000+ (1.67Ghz) which when overclocked slightly almost matched the Athlon 64 3000+. When I finally get a good cooling system going I'm sure the 2800+ will break the number-crunching ability of the 64.

Also, which I'm exstatic about, my CPU is unlocked so even more safe overclocking available.

As for Pentium 4s... these are more expensive and slower. I recently pitted a 1.7Ghz versus a 1700+ (1.4Ghz) and the AMD won by a significant margin. Intel technology is behind that of the AMD factory.
