Advantages: Cheap, good range of options and plugs Disadvantages: Freezes/hangs often, limited memory upgrade space
...This laptop is fine for the average user, but for those that use processor intensive software, it is best to give it a miss.
I do a lot of video conversion work, such as DVD to AVI, and experience a lot of hangs/freezes. Also, although it says it is designed for Windows XP, it experiences several issues with the automatic upgrades from Microsoft - these are to be avoided!
The 16MB graphics card is unsuitable for most modern games, but it has a TV out facility allowing you to connect to a TV for a bigger picture.
On board memory is 256MB, expandable to 496MB, while the processor, an AMDDuron1.2GHZ is more geared towards internet browsing in my experience.
Also, i have encountered issues with the pcmcia slot, with a firewire card inserted, in that the laptop crashes often with my external hard drive connected.
This probably all only...

...The AMDDuron is a very good alternative to the more expensive Pentium 4 and Athlon processors. Line-moderately the Duron core is based on that of the Athlon and brings therefore also Anna-honouring just as good achievement (closer information see bench mark). For fast plays with complex diagram I would recommend this processor. I have mean AMD tested computers with some running plays, which ran all very good and made no problems.
Generally I am with my Duron1.2Ghz. Very contently. He falls hardly off and mostly only if any program not reliably runs and an error has. The AMDDuron1.2Ghz. runs with a Frontside bus from 2x100 MHz. This processor is meant for all Main boards, which possess a A-base. The Motherboard operates the processor with a tension of approximately 3.3 V. The price for this processor is to be decided a second good...

Advantages: Reliable, easy to fit/setup, huge expansion capability Disadvantages: may need to upgrade pc case to fit it in.
...My pc was running at a snails pace so I decided to upgrade the processor to AMD’s Athlon XP 2gb chip, this required a motherboard update. The Epox EP-8KTA+ presented the solution.
The motherboard comes with a user manual, floppy ribbon, hard drive ribbon cable, usb cable and drivers and utility disk.
The Epox board supports the AMD Athlon and Duronprocessors from 600 MHz to 1.3 GHz, However a new BIOS patch allows it to run up to 2.2GHz.
The Board is of the ATX form factor and requires at least a midi tower to fit in, dimensions are 305mm (H) x 245mm (d).
The I/O (In/Out) back panel has PS/2 keyboard and mouse sockets, 1 parallel printer port, sound and microphone lines, 2 com ports and 4 usb ports.
The memory is pc133/vc133 168 pin DIMM and the board can take 32 MB to 1.5 GB thanks to the 4 DIMM slots available
VIA AC97 onboard...

Advantages: Duron is good for value. Disadvantages: It has none.
...be to buy a Duron. You may want to buy a different processor, but why??? The AMD Thunderbird is only slightly better than the Duron in some aspects and also it is a lot more expensive than the Duron. Celeron as i have said are a waste of money as they as just purely crap. right, back to the mainstream of things, you could go and spend a lot of money on a PIII but why, the PIII is only good at over the 1GHz mark anything before it is ruled by the AMD family of processors so i don't recommend it. So overall for people thinking about upgrading, i highly recommnd the AMDDuron, it's good for value, i mean it's damn good for value, it's better tahn the Celeron and it's also very overclockable. For overclocking, i would look into it and buy a motherboard that will allow you to adjust certain things so you can't just go skimpy on the motherrboard. Atthe...
